[GamesMaster]

"Why would he lock me in this useless form, tie my fate to an amulet, and cast me into the lake to be found by a fisherman? Why does that lunatic do anything?"

[Zevran]

"...why did He?" Zevran asks after a moment. "That is to say, what did He tell you about why He did what he did?"

[GamesMaster]

"Look, I know it's a bad look to insult what the Heptad created, but you gotta admit, Mortals are... well... kind of superfluous in the grand scheme of things. I mean, sure, you make nice foods and all, but it's a bit excessive how you're always carrying on, eating so you can poop so you can eat more, nattering on about your emotions and your thoughts, just being so very flighty and fidgety."

[Zevran]

Zevran stares at him flatly. "As opposed to the vital purpose of... what, exactly, did you do for all existence?"

[GamesMaster]

"You mean as opposed to the incarnate representation of Naugrix's domain, as expressed best by [series of grinding noises]?"

[Zevran]

"One of many, you mean... just like I am the incarnate representation of Alamulian under Mileen?" Zevran points out, daring Carbonne to protest his claim of being claimed by the elven creator deity. 

[GamesMaster]

"Hah! Alamulian may have made you, kid, though one could contest that, but They didn't invest Their divine power into you the way [grinding noise] did to make me. I'm literally a shard of Xir divinity, while you're made of meat and lightning shoved into a bit of soulstuff and animated through Positive Energy." 

[Zevran]

Zevran squints, irrationally stuck on the part about shoving. Should it not be soulstuff shoved into meat and... lightning? Strange. "I begin to suspect, though I cannot be sure of course, but I suspect I know why Raplin punished you."

[GamesMaster]

Xe harrumphs. "Mortal-loving worm-castings, that one. Too curious about the living, not enough time spent being a deity."

[Zevran]

"...surety increases," Zevran says blandly.

[GamesMaster]

"Yeah yeah, laugh it up boyo. You're not the one stuck as a toad."

[Zevran]

"That is true," Zevran says, nodding. "As I know better than to be dismissive and insulting to a deity's face. Ah, leaves?"

[GamesMaster]

"I didn't say it in his domain, what are you, nuts? I said it within his territory, ish. You can't expect Him to pay attention to every little conversation said in town!"

[Zevran]

"Evidently you were mistaken?" Zevran works hard to keep a nonjudgmental smile in place. I suppose it is not as if I had never spoken ill of those with power over me before.
