"Still nothing from Cedric?" Zevran asks, distracted by the implied reminder of his absence.

"No, nothing for weeks. I think he's gone away, or gone to sleep or something."

Worrying. Very worrying. "I see. Thank you for indulging my digression. Back to the issue at hand, why are you suddenly running away?"

"There can be power without cruelty," Zevran counters with quiet grace.

"Not..." He falls silent, then begins again. "Sometimes, you can be... callous. Not true cruelty, at least to my judgement. To me, cruelty must be done with deliberation and intent. With you, it is more... It is more that you mimic the actions and behaviors of one that was cruel, but without the intent behind them, they are... less sharp. Does that make sense? I am sorry, it is a hard thing to put to words."
