~I know how to run a household, raise children, all sorts of etiquette for places I no longer live, riding a horse -- very useful underground, as you can imagine -- reading and writing multiple languages, fencing, some small skill in fine arts...~

~Oh that's plenty to work with! Child rearing, especially if you have any teaching skills or talent, is very valuable. And you mentioned running a household, so I imagine you can do at least basic maths and problem solving, which, along with literacy in multiple languages, are a lot of skills children need early on. You'd probably need to do some research into how your new culture approaches things, granted. And, depending on what you mean by fine arts, then that can be a source of funds as well. Do you have any other skills or resources you can leverage to get you started?~

~I don't get the impression that governess work is highly valued. If I am correct, it would lower my standing when I cannot absorb that on my own merits. I've been working to remain in the Matriarch's good graces, to build my standing, but it's slow work. I have been taking culture lessons at her behest, however, and that is going... poorly, but I am learning a lot.~

~Well, this sort of thing is less about filling up a treasure chest and more about having resources. So gaining favors, or, better yet, friends and such, is just as good if not better.~

~Do you have any ideas on why you struggle to make friends? Or is it keeping them that's the problem?~

~I was never like the others around me. I have always been too Drow for human culture and yet not Drow enough for the culture I find myself in. But I am learning.~

~I can understand that, in some ways. The not belonging anywhere, though mine wasn't about my race. It's rough, feeling like you you're alone and unwanted. Still, it sounds like you're slowly finding a place for yourself?~

~not so much. I thought I was, but my wife cheated on me, so...~

~Do you want to talk about that? How you're feeling about it, your reactions, the whole of it?~

Noire surprises herself by accepting. ~Actually, yes. I mean, how difficult is it to just not have sex with other women? I've never had that problem. Been tempted, sure, but it's been easy enough to overcome every time. And yet. She not only cheated on me, she's counting on me to clean up the fallout, absorb the hit to my reputation, and make this all go away so she can pretend it never happened!~
