"If we can get a more... pragmatic healer, we can reverse the first issue." At Emiko's wide-eyed stare, Jass explained, "he's on medicine to ensure... to focus his health and, ahem, stamina into a very specific direction. While some might argue that the, shall we say, little joys of life are worth shaving down one's lifespan, in his case, it's more like hacking chunks of it off."

At Emiko's blushing nod, Jass gracefully moved the conversation onward. "But yes, Hamamoto-donno is... more of a concern."

[Shiori]

"He doesn't care about anyone or anything. Just consumption and obedience."

[NPCs]

"..consumption?" Emiko squeaked with alarm. He eats people?! she thought wildly, earning her a strange look from her eidolon. 

[Shiori]

She nods. "He wants to own everything, run everything."

[NPCs]

"Oh! Oh, that's better than I--" Emiko cast her gaze away awkwardly. "Right, so. Umm. Hmm. Serious mode." Her eyes sharpen and her mouth sets as she shifted her mindset. "Okay. So. Your husband is more or less a non-issue. It's your... uncle-electi that's the real concern. And he wants power, status, wealth and all the typical petty tyrant concerns. So, best defense for you is to make your happiness and well-being integral to your value Right now, your value is mostly coming from a face-saving marriage to Genji-san and your pregnancy. We need to expand on that."

A breathy giggle came from Manu, the eidolon amused as always at people's reactions to 'serious mode Emiko' as they named it years ago. Jass's expression is one of the better ones, they muse. Eyes could be wider though.

[Shiori]

Shoiri, unfortunately, disappoints -- she accepts this change with grim resignation, just like every other new development. "Alright. How do we do that?" 

[NPCs]

"Right. Hmm. I assume you don't have any innate skills or abilities that would enhance your value or you'd be using them already. Do you have anything that you could use that you're just lacking some kind of resource or connection to utilize?"

[Shiori]

"I w-was sent here with a m-mission. I'm supp-posed to speak with Weiha and get her permission to plant a s-seedling of Raplin here, so they can communicate."

[NPCs]

"Raplin is a subordinate deity of Uryll," Jass supplied, figuring that Raplin's name might not be well known, especially in the domain of another local deity. "He's the Oak Tree."

"Oh. Oh wow, okay," Emiko said with wide eyes. Even a lot of locals don't even know Weiha's name. And to be seeking an audience, on behalf of another Little Divine? "That's really..." She shook her head. "I thought you've been back in Toukami for several months now?"

[Shiori]

She nods. "I came and my family needed me. I've been trying to do the best I can since then."

[NPCs]

"I'm sure," Emiko replied automatically, then shook her head. "But what I meant was... I haven't heard about any of this before now. About you meeting with Weiha, I mean. Were you not allowed to tell your family or something?"

[Shiori]

"My family has not been.... I was worried they'd try to sell the seedling instead of letting me fulfill my mission."

[NPCs]

"Sell a gift from one Little Divine to another?" Emiko almost shrieked, her face aghast at the mere idea. Evidently, she was more pious than is evident from their talks during tea parties. Which wasn't a huge surprise though, given her family and connection to spirits but still.

[Shiori]

Shiori nods. "Given I was sold to... well. The Towa family. I doubt there was anything I could say that would make them not use every last bit of leverage they could. Best case, the Higurashi family would have tried to use the gift to court political favor and I'd be cut out of the loop entirely, and the Towa family.... they might even destroy it, trying to weaken a deity not their own."

[Jassinth]

"Oh that would have been a very poor choice," Jass murmured with wide eyes of his own. Maeve would be furious beyond what anyone alive has seen. Likely enough to wake that sister even.

"Well. Well!" Emiko puffed up like a very angry kitten, though the way Manu roiled and writhed around her shoulders added a sharply unsettling vibe to the otherwise cute image. "I think my Uncle Delun is going to get a visit from his favorite grand-niece tomorrow, see if he doesn't."
