[Zevran]

"Lie," the merikos drow offers brightly. Toukami is all about outsiders, tell people that you or your husband have a womb. If anything questions you, loudly call them a pervert and demand an apology for asking to see you naked."

[Shisou]

Shiori stares at him. "That wouldn't work. I'm a little stuttering fag, who would believe me? They'd strip me just to make sure. Besides, you have to get pregnant during the engagement period on most islands just to show proof of fertility, so I can't just lie about being able to."

[Nox]

"A moment, please," Nox cuts in loudly. "Two things. First, funny you mentioned stuttering, as you aren't? At all? Even though you're arguing with someone? And two," he looks at Zevran now. "You're being a lot more..."

"Forward and wittily cutting?" his twin suggests, getting a 'sure, close enough' sort of nod.

[Shisou]

"Oh! Um, the magic cures my stutter. It's part of the disguise."

Carbonne grunts with disgust and rolls his eyes, but doesn't comment. 

[Zevran]

"I am reacting to having killed eight people tonight," Zevran offers blandly, still smiling. The twins flinch, looking uncomfortable. This deepens when Zevran adds, "it is good to know my instincts and skills are still sharp."

[Shisou]

Sadly, Shiori doesn't look much more pleased. Carbonne, on the other hand, grunts again. "Huh. Good work."

"Carbonne!"

"What? Them or us, kid. You gotta learn that sooner or later, you're not a little kid anymore."

[Zevran]

"They came here to kidnap or kill us all," Zevran points out. "Forgive me, but I place very little value on their lives given that."

[Shisou]

"Hear, hear," calls Carbonne.

"Still, we could have tied them up," points out Shiori. "Called the authorities. Krem and the house guards would have handled it."

"Say," points out Carbonne. "There should have been guards on duty tonight guarding our sleeping places. Did you find out what happened to them?"

[Zevran]

"In part," Zevran agrees. "One is currently in medical, as he was found mildly beaten and then drugged. Well, presumably in that order. The other is missing, along with the majority of his personal effects." He glances at the twins, adding, "and if it makes any difference, there were twelve invaders in total." Meaning he only killed three-fourths of them, presumably. "And besides... What do you think their fate would be if we had turned them over to Krem? Who, in turn, would turn them over to..."

"Varisia," Nox finishes with a wince and a shudder. Still cuddling close to his brother, Lux blanches; despite the understanding and even fondness for the Mistress of the household that the twins have gained in the last decade or so, they're both very, very aware of what Varisia is capable of doing.

[Shisou]

"Nonsense," Carbonne snorts. "Varisia would have kept at least one alive. For a little while. Not a great life, but you know, if life is what you prize..."

"Enough! I get it!" Shiori looks unhappy. 

"Good. See that you keep it, this time. If we had just killed--"

"I said enough."

[Zevran]

Zevran scowls at Carbonne. "I did not say that Shiori should have killed any of them," he corrects it sharply.

[Shisou]

"We have a longstanding dispute about how I should have handled something in the past," says Shiori diplomatically. 

[Zevran]

"Well, then in the future, should it be needed, you can come and find me," Zevran orders, voice hard as he glares at Carbonne.

[Shisou]

"Kid's gotta grow up sometime," says Carbonne.

"Carbonne! I'm married! I have sex! Regularly! How much more adult do I need to be?!"

[Zevran]

"Why?" Zevran asks Carbonne bluntly.
