Zevran

Zevran rubs at his face, then nods curtly. "I'm sorry for pushing you, I just-- This is not-- Please, call or summon or whatever it is best called if you can. Whichever of them, of you all, that is best suited to hear dire, horrible news and explain it to the rest of you."

"That's Cedric's domain," she says, simply, closing her eyes a moment. She eats, absent-mindedly, for a long few moments, clearly not paying much attention to her surroundings, until finally, she adds, in a gruffer voice, "What?"

Zevran

"...Cedric?" Zevran asks cautiously, though he can't stop some hope rising up.

"Yeah?" he asks, tensing a little. "She told you about me?"

Zevran

"Ah, actually, you did?" Zevran sighs, then begins to chuckle briefly. "Sorry, it is just that I have just had practically this very thing with Noire before you, ah, were summoned, I think she referred to it as?"

Coquette Blacquin

"...I wouldn't have. Nobody knows about us but Bull. Don't tell anyone."

Zevran

"In fairness to, ah, yourself? you seemed to think you were dying," Zevran offers with a supportive smile. "And you were still feverish and--" He falters, wincing. "Ah, distraught. More than distraught, in fact, but regardless. It was not a decision you made on a whim and one I understand was a trust."

Coquette Blacquin

"...feverish? That might explain why I don't recall any of this. I must have been out of my mind with fever."

Zevran

"It was... elevated, but not so great as to be truly worrying save that it lasted for some three days. And without any reason for it, according to the ship's healer," Zevran explains. "No, it was more the--" He breaks off yet again, then huffs at himself. "I am doing this poorly. First, to start, I should assure you that your daughters are well and safe."

Coquette Blacquin

"Oh. Good. And Bull? Shisou? Nox and Lux? The cats?"

Zevran

"...Justina is well," he offers in lieu of any of the other answers Cedric would far prefer, giving said feline an extra through rub as if to prove the truth of his words.

Cedric hesitates, face going through an odd transformation. "There's something.... wrong... I feel... I almost recall, but I can't... only... when I think of Bull, my heart... something happened to him. He's.... he's gone, isn't he? My Bull."

Zevran

Zevran opens his mouth but nothing comes out for too long, long enough that he knows it's already answer enough. Still, he finally says, "I do not know if he is dead. But he is... it is bad, Cedric. There is no good fate I can offer you for what became of him, save that which is promised to a hero who has given everything for the one he loves most."

Cedric's face crumples before he manages to hide it in his hands, sobbing silently into them for a long moment as he fights for his composure.

Zevran

Moving slowly, Zevran reaches out to lightly place a hand on Cedric's upper arm. He's careful not to hide what he's doing, as best he can from someone with their face covered at least, and also to keep his touch very much not a grip. "There is some hope, even if it is only a spark," he offers weakly. "Varisia had taken pains to not kill any of us prior to our final escape, so perhaps..." He winces slightly, realizing too late what Bull being alive would mean instead for the imisy minotaur.
