Dammit, wrong tact. "I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to badger you," he says swiftly, wincing. "I'm just... I truly do think she loves you and I want you to believe it. To have that comfort and joy."

"Even if you're right, it's Cindy she loves. Just as you prefer  Sweetheart."

[Zevran]

"You can love more than one person... even if they share a body," Zevran replies softly. "It is true that I do not love you, not truly. I respect you. I even like you, most of the time. But I have lived far too much of my life as a slave to love someone that thinks me lesser." He shrugs a little. "That does not mean I do not care about you or want you to be happy."

"You think me lesser than my siblings," she argues. "Why should you reserve for yourself a privilege you deny me?"

"Liking someone less isn't the same as thinking of them as lesser," Zevran replies, brow furrowing. "Ah. Perhaps I should be more clear. By 'lesser' I mean that you think, or at least give the impression you think, that I am innately worth less as a person. Because I am make, I do not deserve respect, truth or curtesy."

"...so is Cindy and Sweetheart?" His tone suggests he's not being sarcastic or the like, but instead unsure what she means.

she shakes her head. "Cindy is half-elven. Sweetheart is as well."

Zevran stares a moment, confused. "I don't... Oh. Wait, is this similar to how Cedric is male?"

"Yes," she says curtly, then pauses. "Have you... spoken with Cedric of late?"

[Zevran]

"..." Zevran closes his mouth, frowning. "...no. Not in the last... week or so, come to think of it. Is that... typical?"

She shakes her head. "None of us have seen him. He isn't showing up for group meetings or anything. His door is locked."
