"Time. And a few good friends." I say with a smile

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

Kor's face closes off a bit. "I don't have either. I need to make a decision about the rest of my life, tonight."

[Tova koshack]

"No you don't. You can go at any time and if you go you can always come back again. As for friends well I'd like to think that you and I are friends and I know reaper and Rocket will be your friend if you let them."

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

"I don't want to talk about Reaper and Rocket. How can I trust them? How can I trust anyone?"

[Tova koshack]

"Well as I recall they did lead your rescue. And You can trust them because they have never lied to you. You can learn to trust by setting boundaries and seeing who respects them. Trust those who bide your boundaries"

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

"What's a boundary?"

[Tova koshack]

"It's a limit of sorts. Like I don't see people the last day of the month. That's a day I only send alone. Not even reaper and Rocket see me on that day. 24hrs completely alone. Anyone who pushes that boundary is told to back off. For my part I tell new people of this bindery so they know it's there. "

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

"Okay... and how does this help?"

[Tova koshack]

"That day alone makes me feel refreshed and calm. Boundaries can be anything. Like Rocket doesn't talk about kids. When people push that boundary she pushes back. Having boundaries helps keep us safe. When people respect our boundaries it shows us that they respect us and our needs. It shows us they are safe because when we ask them to stop doing something they will."

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

Kor shudders, closing his eyes briefly, trying to ward off the panic brewing at the edges of his eyes. "Okay," he whispered. 

[Tova koshack]

"It's ok. It will take time and practice. I've spent the last 300 years learning how to have good boundaries. You will do fine as you practice."

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

Kor's eyes pop open. "Three hundred?!"

[Tova koshack]

"It's a life long process. And I'm still very young for my people but I did also start late. I used to let people walk all over me when I first left my home 100 years ago. Now I've learned a lot. I'm still learning. Don't worry you will learn and grow."

[Kuronue "Kor" Higurashi]

"I don't have two hundred years."

Tears well up in his eyes, but he shakes his head, thinking about it. "I don't know how long I have. A lot of second or third gens die young. Those that don't tend to live... a long time. Eighty, a hundred, nobody knows. We don't age as early as humans."

[Tova koshack]

"It's ok you don't have to be perfect. It's ok to take your time, no matter how much you have. You have a good chance of living long out here though. Some of the doctors who made the first generation came out here after. You can find someone who can help. And if you can't or don't want to it's still good to start making boundaries. It's good to try."
