"You still can. I'm going to take more mates it seams unfair to say I can have multiple partners and you can't." I say honestly

[Jamie D'vart]

He blinks. "Wait, what?!"

[Toby]

 "Alphas normally have a harem anywhere from 5 to 7 mates. Omegas and Alphas are the only ones who can either be pregnant or get someone pregnant so having multiple partners keeps the geane pool from getting to small. So since my mates are going to start cropping up now that I've fo7nd my first it seems rude to not let you date batas or fur folk or wizards or humans hell even omegas if you want but you won't find another alpha you match with so long as I'm alive. That's not a threat it's just fact the magic won't let you so long as we have an active bond."

"I can... isn't that cheating?"

[Toby]

"Not if they know. Look if I know who you're seeing and you know who I'm seeing the the people were seeing know about us then it's not cheating. It's called polyamory or multiple loves. It's ok to see other people at the same time so long as everyone knows and consents

[Jamie D'vart]

"I... don't know about that," he admits. 

[Toby]

"It's ok if you don't want to. It's also ok to try it and not like it or change your mind later on."

[Jamie D'vart]

"...what happens if I don't want to and you find another mate?"

[Toby]

"Then I take my other mate and work to take care of both of you. And we work through jealousy together."

[Jamie D'vart]

"So another thing I don't really get a choice in," he sighs. "Sorry. That's a little mean. I don't know what you're supposed to do if that happens, I just..."

"If I find a mate I have to take them mate refusal is a form of torture. Knowing the person you were made for is there but won't have you... it drives you to insanely. Just being around you for six months without claiming you was driving me crazy. When we find our mates we need to take them it's a safety measure."

[Jamie D'vart]

"Safety," he says bitterly.

"Jamie I lost control with you because I didn't sit you down the first day I met you and tell you everything. I waited until I couldn't and I hurt you! Jamie if you had left before I bite you I would have hunted you and forced you to take it. I'm not proud of it and I'm not saying this to scare you, I just need you to understand that I fucked up and I could have hurt you worse than I did. I'm ashamed of it. And I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. But it really is a safety measure. I thought I was above magic and instinct I thought I could take my time in biting you and I hurt you." I'm not crying there just dust in my eyes as I say this

"I just feel so trapped. I can't change my magic. I can't get rid of it. I can't even choose not to use it. And now I'm tied to you, forever, and I can't say no, because magic says we're perfect for each other, which is so weird because I'm sixteen and you're older than my dad but I thought it was kind of cool having an older experienced teacher only now I can't ever ever change my mind and-- I don't want to be tied to a monster!"
