Jamie shudders. "Are those the choices? Be fully human or be.... fully magic?"

[Toby]

"They are for me. Most find something in the middle and everyone says I'll mellow with age but I'm a man who doesn't like a lot of nuance. For me I'd rather live off the land and run with my pack than anything else in the world. But that's not for everyone and I respect that."

[Jamie D'vart]

"I feel much the same," sighs Jamie. "That I can be like Mum, being as human as possible, or like Dad, as fae and strange as they come. There's no room to just be... me."

[Toby]

"No there's only room to be you. You can't be you're parents just like I can't be mine. Parents shape us but we can't live their lives we have to live our own. I think there's something in the middle for you Jamie. A place where you can be wild and free but still human shaped. And I think it's the pack. We blend in with the world and then come here to let lose. You could have that too if you want."

[Jamie D'vart]

But he's already shaking his head. "I can't 'let loose'. Not really. I don't want to be like my sister either."

[Toby]

"Jamie people like me and your sister we aren't made were born. If you were to look at my brain it would look very different from yours. You're not going to become a syncopate because you aren't made that way. Sycpopothy is born sociopathy is made out if sycopothy. Letting go won't make you a monster. Just because you're loved by a monster dose t mean you are one." I say gently putting my hand on his shoulder

Jamie flinches a little. "you don't understand. You let go of being human a long time ago."

[Toby]

"I don't think I ever really was human to be honest with you. But that doesn't really matter. If being human is important to you then try but I don't want you to hurt yourself by suppressing your powers either. Compacted magic is painful and people die from it. You need to let it out at least a little."

[Jamie D'vart]

"I went sixteen days without feeding once. They had to rush me to the hospital. Now I just take little sips from everyone I meet. You too, unless you want me to stop."

[Toby]

"You can feed off me as much as you want" I say grinning

[Jamie D'vart]

Jamie rolls his eyes. "Don't say that," he warns. "I put my next experimental victim into a psych ward. Never heard if she got out or not."

[Toby]

"That's why you need to practice. So you can feed safely. It may also help to practice next time I hunt..... if you're ok with that that is. You can feed and go before I start working on them if you want.........."

[Jamie D'vart]

"That's why I did practice. Sorry, I haven't been this... glutted in a long time. I usually eat as little as possible so I don't overdo it on accident."

[Toby]

"I'm glad I can keep you well fed." I smile "thank you for letting me in. It means a lot. I've gone my whole life assuming that I'd never find my mate. Never find someone to love me, I'm glad it's you." I say akwordly

[Jamie D'vart]

"I mean... we'll see," he says, shuffling a little. "This is all so..." He spreads his arms apart helplessly. "And we go back tomorrow and what do I tell my mom."
