[Jamie D'vart]

"She didn't give me a chance!" complains Jamie. "She didn't let us explain anything!"

[Toby]

I take a minute to straighten out that all in my head. "Yah. She and I have known each other for a while actually work hazard. I think it's more to do with the droning. Assuming we're all like that and that that's what's in store for Jamie."

[Acutis D'Vart]

"...gonna get back to the droning thing, cuz that sounds...really not like her. But she shouldn't have worried too much about that. If I thought there was a high chance of you hurting Jamie I'd have shown up a lot sooner." Acutis looked between Jamie and Toby. "So far it's...apparently strange but not immediately life-threatening, not that telling Sophia that is likely to not make her worry or threaten you with weapons and I REALLY don't want the two of you to fight."

[Toby]

"We won't, now Steve and I are a different story" I say calmly

[Acutis D'Vart]

"That...might ALSO get you shot and that'd make a huge mess." Acutis frowned as he thought. "...also not sure I should help you kill him, since that could ALSO cause a huge mess and possibly several fires." He then looked over to Jamie. "You definitely found someone interesting." He said with a smile.

[Toby]

"It's not the first time I've been shot and he needs to be put down sooner or later. Droning is a serious offense. It's not illegal but it should be. The other alphas in the area will call a meeting about it in the next few days. I might not be the one chosen to fight him given my relationship with Jamie but someone's going to I can almost garuntee it."

[Acutis D'Vart]

Acutis turned his WHOLE attention on Toby. "What....do you mean? Why would someone else not interested in Jamie want to fight Steve?"

[Toby]

"Our magic works on consent. Consent to be changed, consent to stay once given the mating bite, it's old magic. But some do this thing called droning. It's where you convince your mate that because they have your mark that they no longer have the right to consent. You use the magic that binds you agents them. You make them a drone. A brainless slave. It's not agents government law but it's agents pack law. Someone droning their mate is a threat to all packs. A drone will fight and die for their master at any word. Mates for a drone master are expendable. They'll bite anyone wetheir their truly their mate or not. And most of their victims are human. They put other packs in danger because the humans then start to retaliate. Any report of droning is investigated and taken seriously. If it's found to be true then a challenge to the death is made by one of the loca alphas. The drone master isn't walking away with their life even if they beat their challenger whole clans have died to take down a drone master. Their to dangerous to be left alive. Their investigating Steve now. I expect by next week a vote will be called about who gets to make the official challenge. We like to take turns when it comes to the big challenges on who gets to make them."

"...what about my mom?"

[Toby]

"Once the drone mater is dead those who have been turned are given sanctuary in other packs while they heal and grieve. Once they're ready they either leave or join aa full members. Those who haven't been turned are give counseling and are often given housing job assistance and financial aid as you would any other domestic abuse survivor. We look after the victims. Your mom will be looked after.

[Acutis D'Vart]

"..." Acutis frowned as he thought. "Why...would she even be turned? It's not as if she needed the added power."

[Toby]

"If he wants it he can force it on her...." I say softly.

[Jamie D'vart]

"So some other tigers will take her in?" he asks, unaware just how rare weretigers are. 

[Toby]

"If she's turned then I'll take her in, there's.... There's not many where tigers. If she doesn't want to join us then one of the other packs will."

[Acutis D'Vart]

"And you're SURE that she's a were?" Acutis looked...not annoyed, but something was making him unhappy as he thought. "Because that would make a lot of things....complicated."
