Stone's Throw

[Charon Tethras]

"Right. He'd have to agree, and hang out with you for a day or whatever."

[Diligence]

"Oh. Huh. Right, yeah, that makes sense," Dil replies, head bobbing. "Hrrm. Wouldn't that mean he has to pretend to be you? Like... work a shift at the Scabby Lady or beg or whatever?"

[Charon Tethras]

Charon winces. "I thought maybe we'd do it on my day off?"

[Diligence]

"Good idea," Dil agrees, then hums thoughtfully. "Maybe I should take him begging? Or at least scaving, show him what it's like."

[Charon Tethras]

"Why?" he wonders. "I mean... it's not like he'll ever need it."

[Diligence]

"So maybe he'll remember what it's like when he grows up and has real power," Dil says quietly.

[Charon Tethras]

"Oh." Charon is quiet a moment, then nods. "Good thinking, bro."

[Diligence]

Dil ducks his head, but the swaying tip of his tail betrays his pleased reaction to Charon's praise. "Right, so, umm, what's the plan then?"

[Charon Tethras]

"Well, for tonight you finish that and we get some sleep. Tomorrow I'll think things through at work. Day after we meet Andreas and we can ask him about our plan."

[Diligence]

"I'll try and dig up some stuff about his family while you're at work," Dil offers. "I'll stick to libraries though," he adds before Charon can get worried about Dil trying to go sleuthing by himself.

[Charon Tethras]

"Good. Keep me updated."

[Diligence]

"Duh?"

[Charon Tethras]

The day of the lunch, Charon is clearly nervous as he, Joy and Dil walk to the appointed place. His tail tip twitches, curling and uncurling, and his ears flick at every sound, trying to hear everything at once.

[Andreas Amell]

Having arrived almost a half hour early, Andreas is anxiously waiting outside the restaurant alone. He's pacing in a tight circle, periodically stopping to weave his fingers and mutter in what Dil and Charon can be tell is a minor ritual, though not which one. Something he's either failing with or doesn't have an obvious external effect though, that's clear enough. He's dressed down a bit from the first time Charon saw him, wearing a cream coloured button-down shirt made of linen and trousers spun with thick cotton dyed a muted brown. Quality, but made to stand up to active use; the outfit of a successful crafter of some kind perhaps, or a novice but professional adventurer on their downtime. 

[Diligence]

"Alright, hang back," Dil whispers as they all spot him. Having already planned this ahead of time, the other two stay out of causal sight while Dil approaches alone. The kobold is wearing the best he has, which is unfortunately just the cleanest of the three school tunics he'd brought from Sweetwater, and is barefoot. In fairness, he has scales on his feet that are as protective as most people's shoes, but it still gives the impression of poverty when combined with his outfit. 

"Hello kind sir," he says after Andreas glances at him. "A thousand pardons, truly, but please can you spare some coin? Just enough for a bit of last year's jerky, I need to eat meet you see, and--"
