Stone's Throw

[Charon Tethras]

"Of course," he agrees. "Of course."

[Diligence]

"What was he like?" Dil asks after a moment, Charon's earlier words more focused on the events.

[Charon Tethras]

"...proper. Stuffy. And.. he moved like he wasn't afraid of anything. Not like, a tough guy. But like, it didn't occur to him that we were in Coalside and he should watch his back."

[Diligence]

"Huh. Maybe he has like... magical protections or something?" Dil wonders, nibbling at a meat pie.

[Charon Tethras]

"Yeah maybe, but I picked his pocket just fine. Twice."

[Diligence]

"Maybe it was a decoy purse?" Dil suggests. 

[Charon Tethras]

"I mean, he used it to pay later, after I put it back, so.."

[Diligence]

"Hmm. Maybe it's only violence based?" Dil tries, mind easily engaged by a magical puzzle.

[Charon Tethras]

"He probably had a detection spell that told him I stole it, only he was preoccupied by our twin figures so he didn't ask for it back."

[Diligence]

"That could be," Dil agrees, nodding. "Teacher Russi always said that spells are only as good as the person casting them."

[Charon Tethras]

"He offered to let me meet his family but... they sound.... awful. I don't know. I guess at work tomorrow I'll figure out how to get money from him without being tied down."

[Diligence]

"Awful?" Dil asks curiously. "How so?" There's no disbelief in this voice; rather, he sounds like he's asking what hazards lay on the road before him so he can make plans and gather tools.

[Charon Tethras]

"Smothering, clingy," he whines. 

[Diligence]

"Like... Merry's parents or Tommy's?" Emotional and constantly doing family activities or overbearing and strictly viligent about Tommy's behavior and free time.

[Charon Tethras]

"Yeah, exactly."
