The Black Dirge [Sci-fi]

"Note to self, ask for night vision shades to be requisitioned for Four... Actually... for everyone, except Big-O. Also, don't worry about it." Kenji quietly comments. Kenji glances up ahead toward Zee and the others, hoping all is good from up there.

Morden looked ahead a little at the 'bridge' and frowned. "Because this doesn't look like a trap." They had been healed, but it didn't quicken their want to getting injured in the least.

Zee nods at Morden's comment. He... (she?... Zee hever was able to get a straight answer out of Morden on that score) was probably right.

"Indeed, but there's no way around it, not if we're going to complete the objective in time. Hmm.... alright then. Let's proceed with Five crossing first, then Four, then three. I'll take the rear, if it's a trap it's probably weight triggered and i'd be the most likely to trigger it,"

That and this looked like something Shin set up intending Zee to go first, well Zee would surprise Shin this time.... if the team agreed.

(in case i messed up the numbers that's Kenji => Kimiko => Morden => Zee to cross in order.)

Kenji sighs a little bit and nods, "Sure thing Big-O... Will treat lightly, and well... have more way to stop a few types of harm than some..."

Kenji approaches the front of the group slowly, kneeling down a little to examine the path closer, as he hadn't gotten a good look from where he was standing before. He then also looks up and around a bit, not that he can see too well in this light.

Kimiko follows behind Kenji not too far, but not too close, waiting for the go-ahead to cross after him.

Morden headed across the bridge once Kimiko was by, hoping that this wasn't a trap for them.

Zee takes up the rear. About half way across the bridge she feels it shift under her, there's an audible thunk as the trap is sprung.

With barely a time to swear at Shin for the clever trap Zee drops out of sight as the carefully stacked boxes collapse around her burying her under a significant pile of "debris".

As Zee falls her icon disappears from Zero's screens indicating that she has "died", she's awfully loud and sweary for a corpse though.

"Status report?" asks the familiar voice, though there's a touch of panic in his tone, and a clipped urgency to his words.

At Zero's words Zee pauses in her cursing long enough to realize she's supposed to be "dead" and shuts up, moments later a soft ping in Zero's vicinity indicates that Zee has merely switched from the verbal to the written. Her report to Zero is short and terse: "No physical damage, salvage the op if you can." one can imagine her message to Shin is rather less..... professional.

Kenji mutters a curse under their breath as they watch, "!@*#... Should have done more..." Not how the mission was supposed to go, he thinks to himself, not at all...

Kimiko panics, mostly inside, and remains still. She has an urge to go see if Zee is okay and fix any injuries, but she refrains, as that isn't the point of the exercise. She has to prove herself, so she'll do her best! ...Even if she doesn't quite know what the heck she's doing...

Zero's voice is steady when it comes back online: "Kenji, you have the operation. Do we proceed?"

Kenji sighs heavily before responding, "Yes... we proceed... carefully... Be wary of boxes, for they may be hiding unexpected things... Traps often follow patterns." Kenji scans the surroundings slowly while mumbling, "And they had the best night vision too..."

Morden was now REALLY keen on getting this 'exersize' over with. Had Zee gone first, they'd be stuck, as it was they still WERE, just with going forward rather than back. "Any idea how close we are to the target?"

"No lock on target," replies Zero regretfully. "over."
