The Black Dirge [Sci-fi]

"I don't know...lights or something." Morden took a bit of a breath. "Thanks." They hit the button for the radio. "This is Three. I'm...alright." They stand carefully, testing their side a little. "Four was able to help my side." They took a second. "Over."

[Rednaxela]

Fiv-Mar-Kenji leans over both Morden and Kimiko, observing seeming if they seem to both be fine...  signs of further pain? labored breathing? Hmmm... have to be careful with new elements.

[yamikuronue]

"Zero here. Any negative side effects? Over."

[CalamityJade]

"Other than feeling more tired than I did climbing, I don't think so. Over." Morden tested their side a little with their finger. Nope...pain didn't come back. And they could still feel bones in the right places. How the hell had Kimiko managed that? "We'll have to wait and see if it affects anything else. Over"

"I confirm that." Zee says smartly, before continuing "We'll stick with the original plan. Three on me, Five, assist Four as necessary and stay on alert. there may be more surprises here."

There's a slight tint of worry in Zee's order to Kenji, but it's tightly controlled. No one noticed that, right? Right?!

Kimiko is just happy she could be of use! She winces slightly, as her ribs now smart a bit, but they aren't broken at least. Seems that the healing sort of takes the pain, bot so much the injury. Sorta like phantom pain for an injury she's never sustained. She looks ready to go! Though, it's still pitch black, so that doesn't say much...

Siegfried whistles to himself, alone in his booth. His hands fly over multiple keyboards; a few keys bring up windows, records, tile them, dig into one specific record, and open his personal, encrypted notes. He types furiously, even as he uses his foot to activate the comms:

"Zero here. Well done. The pile's unstable, stick to the left side more. Watch for chairs, they're balanced oddly to trip you up. Over."

Kenji sighs and calls back to the others, "Understood, Big-O. Understood, Num-O. Left side and staying with Four it is." Heh... big-o for omega and num-o for zero... he has a feeling he might get shit for that abbreviation of code names, but ah well, such is life. Always get shit for having a little fun.

Anyway... right, Kimiko seems... more or less fine, and Morden seems fine... good... too good, he almost things. Like who knows, suddenly he might spot an enemy laser sight dot on Morden's ass. That's how these things always go, right?

Kimiko tugs gently on Kenji's shirt, "Are missions usually this... dark? I can barely see a thing..." She doesn't seem to be showing any signs of bad stuff from using her ability, but she's still definitely a newbie. Maybe this whole thing was way too soon for her... or maybe she's fine. Who knows?

"Roger." Not that Morden was up for more climbing anyway. One fall was enough for right now. They really just wanted out of this mission, but that would happen when they got to their objective. They moved closer to where Zee was supposed to be. Probably the safest place to stand if a trap went off, right?

[Rednaxela]

Kenji looks to Kimiko with a little bit of a smile, "Usually... don't know if I'd go so far as saying usually... but more often than not it's something like this. Often easier to go unnoticed in the dark... but not everything is in the dark. Sometimes the dark doesn't help so much going unnoticed, sometimes crowds of people are more useful... or sometimes there just isn't an option for it to be dark. In short, it varies." For his part, Kenji liked it to be a little brighter than this.... but not broad daylight. The broad daylight missions were his least favorite really.

"I see... well, I'll try my best!" She nods, and looks more ready than ever to do her part of the mission!

Zee smiles as the group... well regroups. She's got a good team here.

"Alright then. Move out, by the numbers."

By the numbers they move out, into the deeper jungle of stuff. It gets harder and harder to make out what, exactly, is in their way; Shinigami has a great deal of equipment in storage, and she doesn't always use a piece for its intended equipment. She has a rule: never buy any piece that only has one use unless you're going to do that thing every damn day.

Which is why it's entirely unsurprising when they come across a small bridge made of cardboard boxes. Who knew she was keeping those? Is that even safe? The first few boxes lead upward from the platform they're on, seeming to top out (to Zee's nightvision) at about ten feet off the ground. With a wall on their left and a partition on their right, there's only way to go: straight across the bridge.

Kimiko has very poor night vision, and it's still basically pitch black, so she ends up running into the person in front of her. "Oof! Ow..." She rubs her nose, "S-sorry..."
