The Black Dirge [Sci-fi]

Kenji smiles slightly, though still with a certain sense of seriousness in his air. "Seems so indeed... let's get going everyone... we don't have long." he says.

He continues maintaining the bubble for as long as it takes for people to be ready to start moving. As he can't move the bubbles themselves, he figures that makes sense. He can be ready to make a new bubble should the 'bomb' start making ominous beeping or something, he figures.

They almost make it back to cover, out of the open, when three shots ring out, just above their heads. Shit, is that a sniper?

Kimiko screams like a little girl. She is a teenager, not a little girl! She didn't even know she could be that loud. "S-Sorry!" She apologizes, mostly out of habit.

[Rednaxela]

Kenji winces as the shots ring out. He immediately manifests a bubble infront of himself, backing up a little bit as he does so. As he holds out a hand in the bubble's direction, his arm shaking a little, he starts looking around rapidly for alternate routes out of here. He quietly mutters, "Run for it... or another way... run for it... or another way..."

Kenji didn't like these sorts of situations one bit. Traps were one thing... Sneaking past people was one thing... but dealing with being shot at is a whole other. Times like these, he found himself wishing he had a more directly offensive or directly defensive power... but no... and of course shots that ring out like that aren't laser blasters.... those he could deflect....Now if it's plasma bolts he could diffuse it with a bubble but.... that's risky... His thoughts trail off

Morden was quick to duck for cover once the shooting started. They did manage to stifle the surprise yelp that had almost escaped, but the look of slight panic was still evident. ~Crap! Can any of them even SEE what's shooting?~  "Right! Um...Marbles, can you do something about that?"

The bullets stop; clearly, the sniper is repositioning to get around the bubble shield. It's probably smart to move...

[Rednaxela]

Kenji was starting to reply to Morden, "I'll see if-"  but as he notices the pause in the firing he trails off. He quickly looks around while quietly whispering "They're repositioning.... " then loudly saying, "Run!"

Kenji prepares himself to start running alongside whoever is in front, mentally preparing to quickly be making new shield bubbles one after another as he goes.

Morden didn't have to be told to run when there was yelling, making their way just behind Kenji when the yell went out and trying to keep the 'flag' close to their chest.

In her confusion and haste, while turning around, Kimiko somehow manages to get tangled up in herself, tripping and falling face first, an actual, painful faceplant. She groans loudly, on the verge of tears, and forces herself to get up, scrambling after the others.

It's Kimiko that's hit then, as she stumbles to her feet -- a sting in the middle of her back, as the BB pummels her flesh.

It takes a moment to register, the sting in her back, and she suddenly stops running after them. "Umm, uhh... right!" She mimes getting shot, then slowly gets on her knees, then lays down on her belly, animatedly gasping for breath before going still. She was really bad at it, but looks like she had a bit of fun doing it.

Morden cursed under their breath, but kept running. Kimiko didn't seem like the bad sort, so maybe she wouldn't get it too bad for getting shot on the training mission. I mean, she lasted longer than Zee, so that's gotta distract Shinigami a bit, right?

Kenji slows down for a moment, mumbling something about the accursed mosquitoes that buzz around the terrain irritatingly, as he slows, he looks back to Kimiko to confirm their status, holding a shield bubble in a direction he thinks it between the sniper and himself. After muttering another curse he starts to speed up again and follows Morden.

It's a harrowing race, but they make it back just before the drone flight is supposed to pass by. When they do, the lights come on, signaling the end of the trial. Yay! Mission accomplished! With only the loss of two team members!

As the lights come on there's a great rattling and banging sound as Zee finally extricates herself from the debris. Her cursing can be heard muffled by the drop and by the fact that she's trying to suppress the curses.
