The form looks back towards her...and it's rather messed up. The face is scarred and drooping beyond the point of recognition and it sort of makes a bit of noise in her direction. ~This one seems really faded...maybe it's been here a while? That is what something old looks like, right?~

T recoils a bit. Yeah, maybe. Any idea how we help it move on?

~I might be able to do this on my own.~ The crystal pulses slowly and the ghost seems to slowly pull itself back into some semblance of a real face. The man was middle aged and he had a somewhat vacant look in his eyes. T had seen a couple of people like that. Probably died taking too many drugs to forget how his life was going.

Great. "Go on, then," she says, not unkindly. "What are you hanging around this alley for? Move on. You're done. It's over."

The man gives something akin to a nod before he slowly faded out. ~...you really feel sorry for them, huh?~

...hey, shut up, she retorts, not feeling particularly clever today.

Rob watches the whole exchange, not sure if what he's seeing is really happening; when it's over, it takes a few moments for him to organise his thoughts enough to say something.

"Effective, if a tad blunt," he comments at last, approaching the spot where the ghost was; he sees no signs of hidden trickery. "So there really are 'ghosts', for want of a better word... Why don't we see them normally?"

She shrugs, holding up the crystal. "I use this thing to focus them. Otherwise I can only kind of sense them."

[Hammer Sister]

"Do you mind if I have a look at that crystal?"

[yamikuronue]

Do you mind if he looks you over? asks T, rapidly.

~I guess, though I'm not gonna be chatty.~

[yamikuronue]

Good, just pretend to be inert.

"Sure, why not." She hands over the stone.

[Hammer Sister]

Rob takes the crystal and gives it a good looking-over; after a full minute, he hands the crystal back. This is no trick...

"This is all really weird," he sighs, struggling to comprehend all he's seen today. "Let's see if I understand correctly: when people die, they leave ghosts behind that fuel Pulse. And what you did there was help a ghost effectively move on from Limbo; I take it he's now going to form part of the Pulse energy the city runs on?"

~...huh, this guy doesn't seem nearly as slow as you remember.~ Wha...right, it can probably get an idea of how she thinks of a person. ~Either that or he's still waiting for some kinda light trick.~

She shrugs. "Something like that. I think-- I hope -- the part of them that remembers who they are moves on elsewhere, while the rest of them turns into Pulse."
