Hammer Sister

"Never said you did," Rob replies; he gets out his notebook and notes down the name on the poster. "You helped me foil the latter, remember?"

I know it's not strictly part of the case I'm investigating, but I can't ignore the possibility these kidnappings are linked; hopefully I can get some info about this Obsidian case.

Returning the notebook to its pocket, Rob continues: "All I'm saying is that the people behind the attempt on Mordriana could also be behind his kidnapping. And if that's the case, then any information you have about Obsidian could be quite useful."

And then the murders began.

yamikuronue

T snorts. "I don't know anything the press doesn't know," she says, darkly. Still, that's not quite accurate. She shifts her weight, uncomfortable, fiddling with the hem of her top; after a moment, she adds, "I'm sure they know how strong he is."

CalamityJade

From reports he wasn't...spectacular, but his firm was very good at their jobs and it was reported that he had minimal injuries during a particularly nasty bout with a man with several knives. Apparently he only suffered superficial wounds while the assailant had been in traction for a couple months afterwards.

Hammer Sister

"Which would mean whoever got him would have had to take that into account, and plan accordingly."

Rob pauses a moment. I think I've exhausted this line of inquiry for now. Will need to see what I can dig up on this Obsidian case though; the Welcomed don't just disappear like that. And if it's connected to the Mordriana case...

"Well, kid, I gotta go. Thanks for your co-operation." And with that, Rob turns to leave.

And then the murders began.

yamikuronue

T watches him go, chewing on her lower lip.

CalamityJade

Well, if you're going to get more information on a person, the best place to start would be with those that knew him. In fact, his brother was also a prominent Welcomed, though not in the same vein. His brother, Gregory Roidmet, was actually in the shipping industry. He handled a lot of distribution from the docks and throughout several stores in the city.

He also seemed to be one of the more humble Welcomed in that he wasn't much for big parties and events. He went to several, but wasn't always seen at every one. It seemed he sparked a sort of 'loyalty' in his business contacts that let him get away with that. Something that the head of Warren Industries found a little distasteful, but in that 'ritzy' way that said they were seen as credible competition.

Today, however, there was something new. Due to some family issues, the secretary that used to work for Gregory at Roidmet Distributions had to leave her current position. Which left a vacancy that was quickly filled a couple of days ago...so while Rob was following his leads that would bring him here, the day was still going along well. There was a buzz on the intercom to the desk of the current secretary. "Miss Stark, has there been any word from my 11 o'clock?"

yamikuronue

Erika was determined to have a good day. Her new outfit was absolutely perfect: a light green silk scarf tucked into a button-down blouse, a wide-brimmed hat with a ribbon that matches the scarf perfectly, and a tight skirt -- knee-length! Like some scandalous flapper! -- with heels she can barely walk in. Perfection incarnate. If she can just forget about her worries and enjoy herself, she'll be living the high life. She might even take up smoking! Imagine having enough money to throw away on a glamorous habit like that!

CalamityJade

Not to mention she could get one of those long stemmed cigarette holders. Those were right classy. Though speaking of an 11 o'clock, that was one of the managers from the docks. Seems there are some workers that think they should be getting more for the amount of work it takes, so the managers were trying to raise the rates for shipping and squeeze him for the difference rather than take the hit for paying their own employees more. From what she had been told, it was something that happened often and was usually the response to Mr. Roidmet being Welcomed unlike many of the people who just managed workers at the docks. As it was, not only was his 11 o'clock running late, but there hadn't been a message yet as to why.

yamikuronue

"No sir," she replies, over the intercom, her voice upbeat and perky. "Do you want me to cancel the contract?"

CalamityJade

There was a slight pause. "No, but send our apologies to the office and a representative to one of the union offices for the east end docks." Gregory was something of an oddity. He was Welcomed, but seemed almost humble about it. At least he treated Erika better than her last boss

yamikuronue

"Can do, boss." She hangs up the intercom, grinning, as she moves to dash off a quick note -- on official letterhead!

Hammer Sister

Rob enters the reception area, his hat held in his hand; noticing the receptionist is busy, he doesn't rush to the desk, to allow her time to finish her current task. As he approaches though, he can't shake the feeling he's met her before-

Erika? Quite a coincidence, meeting her again so soon...

"Miss... Stark?"

And then the murders began.

yamikuronue

Erika raises her head. "Oh! You found me!" She gives a light, airy laugh, one that's entirely rehearsed.

"Can I help you?"

Hammer Sister

That was quite the fake laugh... never mind; after all, I'm here on business.

"I hope so; I'm here to speak to Mr Gregory Roidmet. Is he currently available?"

And then the murders began.

yamikuronue

"He might well be. About what is this appointment concerning?" she asks, proud of herself that she managed to sound all fancy-like.
