Go Down

yamikuronue

T staggers backward like she's seen a ghost. Without pausing to give confirmation to the medics, she turns and bolts away down the street.

Damn him! Damn him, what the hell did he think he was doing, he promised he'd find my dad, and he goes and gets himself killed! Stupid, useless, rotten, no-good detective, I hate him, what the hell did he even think he was playing at, he said he could take care of himself, he LIED to me! She wipes at her eyes angrily, startled by how rapidly her vision blurs again. I don't care about him, fuck him, he can rot in hell! she lies to herself.

CalamityJade

Along with the hurt and pain, she feels something akin to comfort. ~I don't think that he lied. He was just wrong.~ Crys seemed somwhat unsure. ~I also don't think you'd send him anywhere that you're imagining when you say that.~ Thankfully, the crowd was more than happy to get out of her way as she ran from the ambulance and through it, a few sad faces and a couple of mutterings of condolences.

yamikuronue

To hell with him! she repeats.  Why is her mental image of Rob all tangled up with her mental image of her father? She doesn't seem to notice or care.

CalamityJade

~...Is it because he died and you are still here....or is it because he left you to deal with it?~

yamikuronue

Stupid... dying and leaving me alone.. what am I supposed to do about it? about any of it? I'm just trash on the streets. I can't fix anything!

CalamityJade

~You fixed that warehouse with the...ghosts? Weird name~ There was a feeling of confort and...pride. ~Seems like a couple people think you can fix things and your not alone. I mean...we're in this together, right?~

yamikuronue

No. We're not.

She rubs at her eyes again, struggling to catch her breath.

I have to go to ground. This is done.

CalamityJade

~Wait! How is this done? You haven't found your father and you don't WANT this to be the end of it.~ Something of an insistent feeling comes through to T. ~We should find that other woman, yeah? The one that knows that Harrox guy we saw.~

yamikuronue

She works for Him.

There's not so much a face or an image of a person behind that thought, just a black hole of terror and fear, a monster with no face.

I can't go in there.

CalamityJade

~...but she won't know that he's dead. She wanted his help too, right? Maybe she's heard of a seeker, or whatever the Fatespinner said to Rob. That's probably what caught him, right?~ Crys seemed worried as well. ~But you're right that we can't go back in that building. The place is wrong and I can't talk to you there, so it might be even more dangerous.~

yamikuronue

Can I just like.... drop you into her pocket?

CalamityJade

~I can't TALK to her. I don't even know if I could talk at all if you did that!~ And now a hint of fear. ~I know I don't remember everything I'm supposed to, but I FEEL that...that doing that would be bad. Maybe less so for you than me, but it wouldn't be good.~

yamikuronue

You don't understand. I CAN'T do this. I'm no hero.

T skids to a stop just inside a park, looking around. She heads for a playground she remembers having a large tunnel she can hide in, a place she's slept before when it rained.

CalamityJade

~...~ Crys seemed silent and waited till she found her hiding place before a soft glow surrounded her before gathering into the small form Crys had used before, that seemed somewhat modeled after her. The hair was in a ponytail and she was wearing overalls and a battered shirt with rips and tears in it. She could vaguely remember it as a shirt she wore long before. ~What makes you think that I want you to be a hero?~

yamikuronue

*You want me to come in and just... * She laughs, bitterly. You want me to be that guy who comes in and makes it all better. You want me to be the one who would fight the hosts of Hell itself and win if it'd make things right again. But that guy doesn't exist.

Crys has a unique privilege here: it's one of the few beings that can see right through the lies T tells herself. Despite claiming no such person exists, she's got a clear picture of one. But there's bitterness there, as well. Her hero didn't save her, so why should anyone get to have a hero?
