"Young, completely sure of what he's doing and to hell with what anyone else thinks? Territorial about anything that he doesn't think belongs?" O gave that a bit of a pause

Lance shrugs. "Again, that's pretty much just me."

[CalamityJade]

"...I'm talking about Wolf." Seriously, the kid sometimes seemed impervious to re-evaluations.

[yamikuronue]

Lance stares at him flatly. "...I don't see it."

Except, as he stubbornly tried to ignore, on some level he did -- if he thought of Wolf as a child rather than a monster, he couldn't deny the wilfull stubbornness, nor the fear hiding under the territorialism that he recognized all too well. He struggles to keep the revelation off his face and out of his mind, but it only kind of works.

"Bull...I know well enough how you acted and how Wolf's been since I got him to talk." Which...I guess was kinda a wash. Wolf could talk, but most of what he said had to be deciphered anyway.

"There's no reason to expect him to be anything like me, let alone a human at all!"  he protests.

[CalamityJade]

"But there's no reason to deny that he does, in certain ways at least. There was no reason to suspect you did what you did as a kid, but I figured it was a little more than just liking giving people grief."

[yamikuronue]

Lance scowls. "Why would a bizarre wolf-like creature have any resemblance to me? Unless there's something about Dad you're not telling me."

[CalamityJade]

"Easy. It doesn't just make a personality from nowhere. It might be magic, but something like that has to come from somewhere...so, obviously it was you."

[yamikuronue]

Lance looks up at him in horror. "...So I killed them."

[CalamityJade]

"No...not any more than if there'd been an accident. It's likely neither of you had any control and it just...happened."

[yamikuronue]

He shakes his head. "What you're saying is, when I was a toddler, I could have... would have... murdered my whole family. And yet you're the one arguing  I need to rejoin society?"

[CalamityJade]

"On accident, anyone could have done it. It's...something like a toddler finding a loaded weapon. It says nothing about the toddler because it didn't have any idea what was going on."

[yamikuronue]

"I think most toddlers wouldn't kill their whole family," he adds, darkly.
