CalamityJade

Morden gave the origami a bit of a look. "That...hmm. That's rather particutlar."

yamikuronue

Siegfried sighs. "I suspect the one who can tell us is Echo's other side. It seems the logical course of action would be to attempt contact directly once more."

accalia

"You have said that that is dangerous, that whatever you encountered last time attacked you, is that not so? Is it really a good idea to put yourself in danger for the sake of this accursed one?"

Echo seems alarmed at the suggestion, ripping his latest origami creation in his alarm. Without looking at his hands he throws away the half completed rose and tears another sheet of paper off the pad.

yamikuronue

Siegfried watches Echo's hands, carefully, not saying anything about the origami. I wonder if he realizes... or is consciously making those at all?

"I'm not certain I have a better suggestion."

CalamityJade

"I am sure that, if asked, we could find ways to put some protections in place. We do not have a lot of time, but enough that seeing if such things exist would be a good idea."

accalia

"Even with precautions in place.... there is great danger there by your own description...."

Echo finishes his current oragami shape, a woman with outstretched beckoning arms, and tears another sheet of paper off the stack. Never once does he look at his hands, they seem to know exactly what folds are needed and navigate the paper by touch alone to make the necessary folds.

Siegfried and Vi exchange glances, silently; then, as if in agreement, they both turn back to Echo.

Siegfried grabs a pen and pad of paper from the hotel stationary on the desk, sketching something out as he talks to Echo. "True, true, but I think I can get around it. You see, if you picture your mind as this circle, and here is the usual entry point.." The soliloquy he delivers is vague enough to be hard to understand, but complex enough to disguise how little he has to say; the purpose is to keep Echo's attention, at least on a conscious level.

Vi, on the other hand, grabs a purple gel pen and notebook from her bag. Silently, without interrupting, she slips the pen into one of Echo's busy-folding hands, holding the notebook within easy range.

accalia

Echo takes the pen without seeming to notice and holding it delicately across the back of his hand folds a very complicated triangle. He then makes two curved ink marks and one straight line. He then unfolds the paper flat, the curves and lines marking a series of folds that if inked would make a six pointed star, nestled between two circles. Even incomplete the shape looks strange and occult. Echo then marks five symbols, one each per ray of the star, The symbols look very much like the alchemical symbols for the five elements, but with each symbol missing the last stroke to complete them.

When he completes the diagram Echo places down the pen and places the figure of the woman he folded earlier on the central circle. After a moment more of listening to Siegfried talk BS with an increasingly strong "deer in headlights" expression, Echo retrieves the half folded mouth of teeth and places it on top of the pile, teeth side up.

Siegfried, as if by some cue, finishes up: "... so you see, the shielding should be sufficient to protect me from the flames."

Vi, meanwhile, taps Morden on the shoulder, indicating the notepad.

CalamityJade

Morden had been wondering about what all this was about before he got the indication to look at the pictures. That...was a bit of a problem. Usually that was a sign of possession, but none of the othe-OH! The diagram. That's probably what he 'd have to pay attention to. It was...interesting. ARe the symbols incomplete to keep the small circle from being active, or was that a stylistic choice! Either way, the symbols were rather fascinating.  "Hmmm....that's..."

accalia

"Yes?" Echo asks in response to Morden, The circle drawn his hands put down the pen and start folding another origami shape, This time it appears to be a simple, common, crane.

CalamityJade

"Are you....While you were talking, did you percieve anything of what was going on other than Siegfried?" That was...not something he'd seen before. "Since I'm looking over what you've been making and it seems...rather surprising. I believe I understand some of it, but I want to get you're reaction without what I'm saying affecting it at all."

accalia

Echo looks down at the forms of paper he had folded, picking up the mouth of teeth, there's something odd about his grip, it's almost like he's gripping it as if he sees a different shape than the rest of them.

"A poor effort, this one has folded far better before, but it is only a simple crane, no?"

yamikuronue

Vi cuts in: "I believe he was referring to the way you made good use of the existing pattern on the paper." She shoots Morden a "shut up" look.

CalamityJade

Morden gave her a 'what' sort of look before giving a nod. "Fascinating...and...I imagine it could be better. Granted that is not a particular skill that I have." Still, that WAS fascinating to watch. He did take a bit more time to look over the design of the entire pile, even if he moved the odd teeth origami from it. The design would be easy enough to reproduce, but without more details, he couldn't be sure what it DID. Active spells and magic were much easier to see than potential magic.
