CalamityJade

"...right." He takes said vaccum. "So, is he usually absent for the majority of the day?"

yamikuronue

Siegfried nods. "The Young Master rarely descends the staircase at all."

CalamityJade

Obsidian takes that into consideration while he tries to clean the drapes. That was probably just him being broody. He'd had a decade to mourn, so it was now officially time to get things worked out. "Level with me Sig, how bad is all this?" He gestured to all around him...though whether or not he meant the estate, life in general, or this room was up to interpretation.

Siegfried glances at Echo, who is tuning the piano, then gives a resigned look. "Not good. I suspect he's out all night most nights, given how late he sleeps during the day, and sometimes he staggers in in the wee hours bloody and beaten. He won't hear of opening the house or hiring more staff or even playing the piano because it reminds him. So most of the rooms are as bad as this one save his bedroom, our bedrooms, the kitchen, the back parlor, and the dining hall. I've sold a lot of the artwork -- until I got the European properties rented out, property taxes were pretty steep."

CalamityJade

Shit...that was pretty bad. "Can't do much for the artwork. Stuff's probably been sold twice over by now." Obsidian scratched his head a little in thought. "And from how your talking, none of the business ends have been held up, either." It was a shame, since that was one thing Obsidian could never fault his brother for. He had a good way of making it ahead with almost nothing, and he was never shrewd. Everyone liked working for him.

Echo pauses from his tuning to speak up.

"this one had suggested Siegfried contact and investment broker this one knows. One suspects that with the events of the last few days there hasn't been time to contact him. It would help to have someone managing the market..."

yamikuronue

Siegfried nods. "The biggest hurdle is that assigning a broker requires written forms signed by the one whose money it is, and well... I don't have the authority to manage Roidmet money. Anything I do with the investment accounts requires Lance to sign off on it, and he won't think about it. So I've been making do with the distributions from his trust fund to pay our salaries and keep up the household." Granted, it's a large trust fund, but...

CalamityJade

Of course that's the problem. Obsidian pinched the bridge of his nose. "Well, guess I get an early start dealing with this." He holds the vaccum out to Siegfried. "His room still in the same place?"

yamikuronue

Siegfried nods. "He won't hear of any suggestion he move to the master suite. He has, however, done some renovations to the interior."

CalamityJade

"Great. If you hear yelling...well that'd probably be normal." Obsidian turned and headed through one of the hallways out of the room. He'd have to have it out with Lance, might as well do it while he was still pissed about how bad things were. It would keep him from letting Lance put things off any longer.

yamikuronue

Lance's room is in a hallway that, while clean, is far too still to be used often. The master suite is at the top of the stairs, with Lance's rooms and what used to be Muriel's rooms on either side of the hallway; Obsidian's room and the other guest suites are on the second floor, with servants quarters and more public gathering rooms on the ground floor. To his recollection, there was a sitting room where Lance used to undergo tutoring, a bedroom, and a playroom, all linked together; Muriel's sitting room had been turned into a menagerie for her various pets, while her playroom was full of dollhouses and drawings. By fifteen, Lance was beginning to outgrow the playroom, storing his guitar and posters of rock musicians there along with sports equipment, but spending more and more time in his sitting room. There was talk of turning the playroom into a proper study, which Lance liked because it meant he could have a television in his sitting room for when he had sleepovers, but then the accident had occurred, and Obsidian had lost contact with him altogether...

CalamityJade

Obsidian couldn't help but smile a little. Lance had always been a reminder of his youth. Being a hard-headed brat that knew more than anyone hadn't made him many friends, so sometimes it was easy to see him as some bad seed. Still, he'd been a good kid. He knocked on the door to Lance's rooms, knowing full well that he hated having people barging into his space. So before he inevitably had to, he'd try being polite. "Yo! You can't still be sleeping, right?" Well....polite-ish.

yamikuronue

It's a long moment before Lance comes to the door; he pokes his head around the edge of it, not letting Obsidian see inside. Kid looks exhausted, but he manages to scowl. "Fuck off."

After Obsidian leaves Echo speaks again

"This one wonders if there is any spare piano wire about the place? the piano is in superb condition given how long it has stood unused but one of the E7 wires has snapped and needs to be replaced."

yamikuronue

Siegfried nods. "Probably. Come, let's check the basement, maybe you can help me find it." He gives a warm smile, moving for the stairway.
