Tale as Old As Time [Finished]

Obsidian sighed. "I thought as much." His left hand went to his right, just above the wrist as he took a seat. The small bit of the tattoo that was visible was a line around the wrist and the tops of several symbols underneath it.

"What's happened and...what damage is there." His voice seemed heavy, as if he already knew what sort of topic this would be. He'd been expecting it for some time. For years, in fact. He just...maybe hoped that if it'd been THIS long, that maybe he was wrong. That Lance HAD found some way of beating it and that he'd be spared the brief 'reunion' that he'd expected would be waiting for him once he was released. No doubt he'd find himself in thicker walls after, but then it would all be over and done with.

Siegfried lowers his gaze to the table. "The damage is... extensive," he begins, closing his eyes and trying to honestly remember what Lance had been like before the accident. There was a vast gulf of difference between his arrogant, 'I can do anything' teenage self, and the current, miserable wretch who declared himself unworthy of healing. "I had been trying to counsel him, but even I was unaware of the full extent of the problem until just yesterday. I am concerned that... that I cannot give him the help he needs."

Echo remains silent, waiting patiently for Siegfried and Obsidian to have the discussion they need to have.

Obsidian's tatoos catch Echo's eyes and he looks inquisitively at them.

Obsidian frowned for a moment.."Shit." He hadn't figured things might go truly that bad. "It's...not your fault." His voice seemed...pained as he mulled over what he was thinking. "If it's gotten that bad, then I've...prepared for it. The best option will be to clear out and...I'll see to him as soon as I can leave." If things were THAT terrible, he might have to try to escape. That would...be difficult, but not impossible, and he wouldn't need to be out for long. Just enough to..

Siegfried hesitates. "I can... divert some funds to expedite your legal release," he adds, "unless there's some reason you feel you wouldn't make parole?"

[accalia]

Echo speaks up softly, almost hesitantly to inject his comment into the conversation.

"This one thinks that the young master is improving, he is starting to deal with things that he has long hidden away. This one thinks that there is a good chance that things will work out for the good."

Obsidian gave Echo a briefly odd look. "...You...realize I meant how many people were hurt or dead, right?" So...was that NOT the case? Was the kid actually able to be himself for THIS long?

Siegfried blinks, looking surprised. "What? No! No, nobody else has... that I know of, anyway."

[accalia]

"He is still fighting his condition, and appears to be holding his ground from what this one has seen. Now that he is facing it more fully this one expects he will be able to control it completely in time."

Obsidian gave a sigh as he sags a small amount in his seat. "Right....good. Doubt it wouldn't make news if anyone else ended up that way." So...he was alright...well, he wasn't going to have to find a way to escape and kill him. That was...it let him take a few moments to let the other things nagging at his head to make their way to the surface.

"And I said this before I left. Mistakes were made and someone has to pay the price for it. If I just left before the time was up...then it just leaves bad tastes in people's mouths. This way, everything is finished." There was a lot left unspoken...the fact he was well aware of Lance's condition. The events of that tragic evening...and a resolve to let the matter drop from people's minds.

Siegfried looks away, toward the snack bar. "The way this is going, nothing will ever be finished," he adds, softly. "Lance is... not well. Not well at all. If you're entertaining some delusion that he's gone on with his life...."

"He has been stuck in the past these last ten years. the changes described to you have all happened in the last four days, and indeed were caused or catalyzed, by this one. It has been four days since this one was contracted to the family to... this one cannot say, there is a covenant and this one cannot breach it."

Echo sighs

"This one has hope for the master, but this one fears it will be a long and painful road. it may be helpful to have one who the master looks up to and respects around, and this one thinks that you will be looked favourably to by the master."

"Young Master," Siegfried corrects, out of habit.

Seeing the look Obsidian is giving him, he gives a dry smile. "He prefers to have no reminders that he owns the property and is the head of the household. To that end, he prefers to be called Young Master, as he was when he was a child."

[CalamityJade]

Obsidian frowned. "Of course...." why wouldn't he close everything off. "And you mean he wants no reminders of who is no longer there." It wasn't malicious, but he didn't seem to enjoy avoiding topics. "So...if he wasn't injured, or injuring others...and this man here seems to know most of what happened...why come here and ask me about it. Do you really think adding another thing reminding Lance of what happened is gonna get him to talk about it?"

[accalia]

"He has already talked about it, and in truth this one suspected some of the truth before this one accepted the contract, and had learned far more before the master talked about it. This one has confidence that the master is improving and will continue to grow."

"In truth this one is here because this one is curious why one would give up fifteen years of their life for another there are good reason and less good reasons and this one wants to know more. mayhap this one will learn something that will alow one to better help the master. mayhap you will learn something that will help you."
