Lance can't help himself -- he looks up at his uncle with almost a hungry look in his eyes for a moment before he turns away, crossing his arms and putting on a scowl. "It doesn't matter."

"...his plan for you...was honestly to let you find your own path. He knew you might have plans other than taking over his company, but he would support whatever plan you wanted, as long as you truly wanted it. He thought...you'd find a life of corporations boring and become restless." Obsidian chuckled a little. "He also figured you would spend about a year wanting to be out in the world without him looking over your shoulder."

Lance is silent for a long moment, before sighing. "It's not like we could possibly know what he'd want now."

"...did you..." He gave Lance a look. "Wait...you are serious. You were barely a teenager, of course you wouldn't have asked him." Obsidian gave a sigh. "If you believe that he would hold this against you...an accident that you couldn't have known about, then he would never have asked me to come back here ten years ago."

Lance raises an eyebrow. "Wait, why did you turn up out of the blue?"

Obsidian gave a sigh. "You'd started wanting to learn how to fight...and while we had a falling out, he knows that I'm one of the best." He seemed like he would leave it at that before he sighed. "As well as being asked to help train you to deal with people."

"With people," he says, flatly, then bursts out laughing. "Well that's... fucking ironic, since I can hardly be around people now."

"I dunno. Might work if you could keep your temper in check."

Lance gives him a flat look. "Says the guy who doesn't have a monster in his head."

Obsidian shrugged. "Says the guy that talks to me fine enough without trying to kill me."

He glares at him. "Not that I don't want to. The beast inside me wants to... to..."

He pauses for a moment. Hang on a tic... why isn't he full of murderous rage toward Obsidian? Usually other dominant males irritated him to no end, but he finds his wolf in a relaxed, happy mood. He makes an odd face, picturing a canine leaping up to lick at Obsidian's cheeks.

"...well that's not important," he adds, blushing faintly.

Obsidian gave Lance a look. That...didn't make a LOT of sense, but obviously it wasn't just killing him. "As far as I can tell, it's something in your head, but it's NOT controlling you. Meaning if you train hard enough and long enough, you'll be able to control it. Then it won't matter who's giving you shit, you'll be able to keep your head."

"Which is what the training is for. So you won't black out"
