Echo: this one wonders why Julie would behave that way? What is she trying to accomplish?

CalamityJade

Morden scratches his chin. "Possibly wanting to be on hand in case something happens? I'm not entirely sure, but that does seem like something she would do. Though, I imagine you've known her longer than I have. I just have some small observations."

accalia

Echo: it has been many moons since this one knew her, she may have changed dramatically in that time. Still, it's probably something like that.... Think you it is something to be concerned about?

CalamityJade

Morden gave a small shrug. "I believe that she will be alright. She is well adept at being able to take care of herself...she would probably find it troubling if we stayed here looking for her. And as far as the time between, I have to be a little curious. What did you do between those two points. I can't imagine you simply wandered and healed in all that time."

accalia

Echo shrugs expressively, conveying both a sense of immense time, and terrible grief.

"This one went where one was needed, when this one was not needed this one searched and waited until the time this one was needed again. That this one has done for.... that is this one's purpose."

CalamityJade

Morden shook his head. "That may be, but a purpose does not sustain very well...,there has to be someone or something else besides healing people."

accalia

Another shrug from Echo.

'This one is as you see one. This one has a purpose and one must fulfill one's purpose."

CalamityJade

Morden shook his head. "you are a lot of things, but I don't think you're everything you appear to be. No offence meant of course. I'm not what I appear to be, neither is anyone else here. It's the nature of the world we live in."

accalia

Echo looks extremely puzzled and ever so slightly hurt at that comment, he makes a few attempts to say something before apparently deciding that there was nothing coherent to be said in response and falling silent.

CalamityJade

"Like I said, there is no ill will at it. I'm simply saying that people are complex. No one is fully what they appear, and those that see the world for how it is are even less so. It's why I find people so fascinating. Take myself for instance. Everyone would assume that I'm simply an accountant, correct?"

accalia

"This one learned long ago never to assume, you are who you are and that is good enough for this one."

CalamityJade

"Assuming isn't what I mean....I just believe that you should be observant of others. I trust that there are many good reasons for people to keep parts of their lives to themselves. Of course, I also believe that there is plenty one can gain from having others know theses parts of themselves. For instance, it allows for a much easier time of communication between people."

Morden seems to consider something for a moment. "Case in point, myself. You've obviously heard me speak about our hosts and their troubles, but rarely do you seem to wonder how I would know this or why it would seem important to myself."

accalia

"This one had wondered about that, but you seemed disinclined to talk of it and it was not an immediate threat to this one, or any other as far as this one could see. So this one left it alone, trusting you had good intentions and would explain if the need arose."

CalamityJade

"But you had to have realized that I've spoken openly about my conjecture, and in doing such opened myself to questions about said conjectures. To be honest, it is mostly habit that I maintain some of the secrecy that I do...though from my observations of yourself, I believe a much more candid approach is required."

Morden took a moment to compose himself. "I know that you have to injure yourself to transfer wounds from your target, and that this is initiated by touch. There is a good chance that, while you still feel the effects of these wounds, they themselves would not be enough to do you much permanent harm. You're manner of speech reminds me of mantras I have heard from monks, though not on the solemn, reverent way, so I assume that something in your past has lead to it."

"This coupled with Julie's memories of you, and the fact that you seemed unchanged from then to now is a bit of confusion, as most beings that would live that long without aging hold either an air of contempt or pity for those that do not. You do neither, as evidence by your mission of self-sacrifice for the benefit of others." Morden took a brief moment to take a breath. "And that's excluding what I have Seen of you. Whatever it truly is, I would gather that it's creator was skilled, but almost...caring in how well it has maintained."

accalia

"This one is... This one is as this one is. One does not like to think about the past. There is much pain there. And it is as you say. When this one heals this one takes the pain, all of the pain, from the moment of wounding to the end of the healing. To heal a small laceration is not an issue, but this one is compelled to heal, and most injuries are... larger."

"To feel the pain of a broken bone, a gunshot wound, a cancer, and worse.... and then to remember that vividly, perfectly, in every minute detail from then on.... the past is a painful place for this one, too painful to reflect on at length"
