"Could be both," says Vi, after a moment. "Could be the spell interfering with memory -- hell, even cognition; maybe Echo doesn't understand because they CAN'T understand, because if they did, they'd be closer to undoing the spell. Could be Echo can't meaningfully learn anything about their condition. Plus, the duality aspect explaining other memory blocks."

Siegfried hesitates. "Maybe..."

Vi grins, throwing back more of her drink.

CalamityJade

"Also possible, but it's better to try and start with the least complicated answer and work to see if it's still correct."

accalia

"So.... You have a theory.... What are you going to do to this one next?"

yamikuronue

Vi finishes her drink, putting the glass down. "Frankly, I think it's time to hit the sack," she says, stretching in a yawn that ends up sending her tumbling backward into Morden's lap.

accalia

"What an interesting lady... and more than a little scary too"

Echo gets stiffly to his feet, making his way to a lounge char in the corner of the hotel room, settling into it as if he intended to fall asleep in the chair for the night.

CalamityJade

Morden was a bit surprised to find Vi in his lap...before giving a sigh. "I believe you are correct. It's been quite a long day and we would all do with some rest. Vi, I imagine you are staying in a room in this hotel, correct?" Though he seems to give a small glance towards Siegfried with what may be a momentarily worried look. In fact, you'd probably miss it if you weren't watching his face.

yamikuronue

Morden's glance would reveal a brief stormy look on Siegfried's face as he studies the scene. When he sees Morden glance at him, though, he does his best to smooth over his expression, taking a deep breath in the hopes that as he releases it, the tension he's feeling will flow out of him. And it works... to some extent.

Vi misses the entire exchange, giving a soft humming noise. "Nope. I figured I'd probably crash with you guys."

CalamityJade

Morden gave a sigh. "Then we will find someplace for you to stay." He moved to get Vi out of his lap. "I believe the suite has several rooms. Siegfried, would you mind terribly if I share yours so our 'guest' can have a place to sleep."

yamikuronue

Vi makes a pouty face. "Aww, but I was comfy!"

Siegfried clears his throat. "That would be acceptable, yes."

CalamityJade

"And I was not. Now, if you...have all of your things, I can show you where the room is." Morden took that time to stand and stretch. "It would seem that everyone will be in a better place to continue this conversation in the morning."

yamikuronue

Shortly, with Vi and Echo settled, Morden and Sigfried find themselves retiring to their room, ready at last to put an end to this strange day.

CalamityJade

Morden gave a somewhat relieved sigh as it seemed that the day was winding down. He'd packed somewhat light, so there wasn't much to move between the rooms. Though it WAS somewhat interesting that he had what looked like a metal contact case when he was wearing glasses.

Once they'd gotten to the room, Morden gave a long sigh. "Well...this is not shaping up to be the calm, relaxing vacation I was hoping."

yamikuronue

Siegfried sighs. "No, rather not. That woman greatly unnerves me."

CalamityJade

"She doesn't seem to be lying...at least as far as I can tell." Morden scratched his chin in thought

yamikuronue

"She didn't feel like telling us she wasn't human," he points out. "Nor why she was so... affectionate toward you. Are you certain  you have never met her before?"
