"That'll cause a lot of problems, for me and Sigfried. So that's not going to work." And it wasn't like he could punch Wolf till Lance fell out of him or something.

"Piss on Sigfried then. Lance is useless."

[CalamityJade]

"Only because he thinks everything is his fault. That's something that can be fixed, and he's sure as hell a better fighter than you've seen."

[yamikuronue]

Wolf growls. "Lance is weak. Lance hides, gives up, tries to kill Wolf. No use for that. Wolf is strong."

[CalamityJade]

"Lance is hurt. He thinks he betrayed his pack and should be alive...and seeing how you want to kill him I don't know if you can blame him for trying the same."

[yamikuronue]

"Lance has no right to kill me." A surprisingly sophisticated sentence, delivered with a tone of utter frustration.

"Lance stronger than you. Strong does what strong wants. Weak must follow."

[yamikuronue]

"Lance not stronger!"

Obsidian paused at that. "What do you mean 'he has no right'? Wouldn't being about to give him the right?"

"I won't let him! Lance is not my Alpha. Lance is nothing. I will live, and he will deal with it."

[CalamityJade]

"Then don't decide that HE should die while YOU try to kill him." Obsidian gave Wolf a look. "If he thought you wouldn't try to 'kill' him, there'd be no reason for him to try and 'kill' you."

Wolf stares at him for a long time, then settles his bum on the ground, astonished.

"Not true," he finally concludes. "Lance hates me."

"Because he thinks you're going to hurt everyone. Because he has to fight you just to stay himself." Obsidian gave a long sigh. "And he hates himself because he thinks HE killed them. He hates himself, and doesn't even know you."
