The Gig [Finished]

It's not long before Tony pulls up at the station and gets out of the car.

"Just stay quiet and wait outside the office, yeah? glass walls the captain has so you'll be able to see me, right?"

[yamikuronue]

Convenient... unless he's planning to sell them out. Well, what's he got so far? A speakeasy. Big Tony's probably safe enough. Vic narrows his eyes in suspicion, but nods anyway. This is probably safe enough. Besides, what could he do to stop him? Start a shootout in a goddamn police station?

Tony's not in the captain's office five minutes before the door opens again and the captain leaves. It looked like Tony was getting royally chewed out there, but it was the Captain that grabbed his coat and left, not Tony...... What the fuck?

Tony collapses into one of the chairs along one wall and waves at Vic to enter the office. Tony does NOT look happy about this...

Vic enters, touching the holster barely covered by the hem of his shirt briefly, as if reminding himself he's got a gun, it's fine.

"...What happened?"

[accalia]

"Captain quit." Tony says woodenly. "'m acting captain until IA assigns a permanent new captain."

Well... that makes Tony all of a sudden a lot more powerful, and valuable, but also a hell of a lot more visible, so his power is a lot more risky to use... If he messes up IA will find out about it almost immediately, and if they find out about that, they'll learn everything that Tony knows about the family too.

Vic leaves his fingers on his gun, just in case. "What are you going to do?"

[accalia]

"Dunno. Don't want the job. Probably gonna get it anyway, unless IA transfers someone from another department." Tony's clearly not enthusiastic about this 'promotion', then he rallies slightly and says "Grab me that city map from the shelf there, might as well plan out the patrols. c'n figure out this whole acting captain shit after."

Vic nods, slowly.

"You know, you work out now, you gotta start carrying an extra bullet, right?" The implication being, it'd be for himself in case he's about to be caught.

[accalia]

Tony unholsters his gun and flips the cylinder open, there's one cartridge and five empty holes in the cylinder.

"Only carry one to begin with." Tony explains "Too many times I've looked down the barrel and wondered.... Do I dare? So far the answer's been 'No'... But that's not solving your problem. The map please."

Tony reseats the cylinder and reholsters his gun.... That's a disturbing revelation, and one that would get Tony taken straight off active if anyone else found out about it.

Vic winces. Seems like something about that hit home. He moves to grab the map without further comment.

[accalia]

"Right then. let's see..." and Tony falls back into mumbling and dropping tokens onto the map in various places, occasionally shuffling them around the place until he is satisfied.

"Right. that should do it. Vic, get Kate to tell Kitten, Bear, Little Tee, and... shit who's the fourth sarge on duty today.... ah right George. Get Kate to tell them to get their asses in here, she should be at the desk just to the left as you exit the office. Gotta tell them the news and set the new marching orders."

Vic stares at him. "I'm not a cop. Who is Kate?"

[accalia]

"Kate is Kirk's, the old captain's ... mine now i guess, secretary. Her desk is next to the office for that reason. You're just running a message to her, she'll make sure the sarges get in here." Tony replies. It's plain as day to him that if Vic's playing the nephew that Tony got suckered into dragging along to work it makes sense for him to play gopher.... Maybe he should have shared that revelation with Vic before they got here.

Vic rolls his eyes, affecting a bit of a petulant slouch. "Sure, pops."

Sass delivered, he slinks his way out to the secretary's desk, delivering the message as such: "So Uncle Tony says Cat, Bear, Little Teepee, and George need to go talk to him." A capacity for improv -- maybe that's why he got to Giovanni's attention so young?

[accalia]

"Right. I'll round them up." Kate states matter of factly before standing to go find the men in question "Though i expect you mean Little Tee, TeePee's on medical and he's only lance in any case."
