The Gig [Finished]

"Figures." Tony says, his tone of voice turning the simple word into a swear. "This night just gets better and better."

[yamikuronue]

"Like I said, I'm not getting shot over you." Vic smiles, faintly. "Why not send one of your own grunts?"

[accalia]

"Dont trust them to get the order right. none of them drink it right. they always ad milk or sugar. that's not the proper way to drink coffee!" Tony snaps, but weakly. He's grumpy, not angry.

See? There it goes again -- this guy he just met today suddanly trusts him (with coffee, which is super minor, but still!) for no good reason. What does a guy have to do to get a reputation as a reckless, irresponsible youth around here?

"Lousy." he agrees.

[accalia]

"So you're sure you won't get coffee for me? I won't even ask where the change went." Tony tries bribery, fishing out a tenner from his wallet, that's.... a fair whack of change, enough for a large meal at the diner across the street.

[yamikuronue]

Vic's eyebrows raise. Oh man... if only I could. But there's no way. This guy does us dirty and it don't matter when he did it, if I left his side for a minute, I'm done for.

"You such a rich guy, why you come to the family then?"

[accalia]

"House ain't mine. Father's estate owns it. It's to be presented to his great grand nephew when he reach majority, at which point i get kicked out onto my fat ass. Worse yet i'm responsible for the maintenance of the place until then, not the estate." Oh boy, now Tony's ranting..... there was a button.

[yamikuronue]

"So you get to live in a house for free for years? I don't see the downside," Vic says bitterly. Three brothers -- three!! -- and Vic all crammed into a tiny two-bedroom after their dad died, and they didn't have heat half the time, and this guy wants to bitch about maintenance costs?

[accalia]

"Free?!" Tony Barks "Sure, live in the place, maintain it, don't change anything, and then in two years when that brat turns eighteen i get kicked out on my ass with nothing but the clothes on my back"

[yamikuronue]

"Bettern' being homeless," says Vic, darkly.

[accalia]

"Hmph. If you say." Tony plainly disagrees with the sentiment.

[yamikuronue]

"You could always move out and find out."

[accalia]

"Would still have to be there pretty much every day to take care of things." Tony counters as the clock in the corner chimes eight.

"Well.... time to go talk to the men, Stay here, yeah? i'll stay in sight of the glass when i talk to them."

[yamikuronue]

Vic frowns. "You better." At least he's taking this seriously?

[accalia]

Tony nods and walks out of the office to the common area, his address is pretty simple, Kirk quit and put Tony in charge Pro-tem, Tony hopes that everyone will stay in line until a new captain is found, Bear is acting as Louie for the time and has advanced Kitten to Sarge, and while those ranks are not permanent Tony hopes that everyone will treat them as if they are as Tony intends to recommend to the new captain that the promotions be made official. some mushy stuff about working together, and a commendation for one of the squads that nabbed a car trying to smuggle coke and managed to do it without any shots fired too.

After a minute or so of question and answer Tony closes by saying that anyone with questions or concerns should see him personally, or if he's not in the office to leave a message with Kate and Tony will deal with it as soon as he can.

Walking back into the office Tony slumps into a chair, he's been avoiding actually sitting at the captain's desk so this chair is pulled up to the side of the desk where Tony can work on paperwork without actually sitting at the desk. "I hate talking to groups like that." he admits "Always think i'm gonna mess up."
