Go Down

yamikuronue

Vic stares at the box. Please tell me that's bait and not more crazy, he groans inwardly.

"We're going three miles out." he informs Tony, instead. "And be prepared, because if they smell a rat they'll shoot you and be done with it. You have to dodge the coast guard and other runners who want a bit of the Family Business, even if the locals are across town. We'll be safest once we dock back up, probably."

accalia

"Well then. Best get going yeah?Traps go out two and a half mile here, so we're good for most of the way out." Tony comments, guiding the boat out of the harbor, It's pretty plain he's done this before, quite a few times actually.

yamikuronue

Vic nods, having a seat and watching the waves.

accalia

The trip out is relatively uneventful, though the choppiness of the seas does mean one or two waves to dump an alarming amount of water into the craft, But since it simply flows off the deck almost as fast as it arives all they really did was push home how important those hipwaders are.

"So, how will they know it's us and we them?" tony asks as they pass about two and a half miles out.

yamikuronue

"I know some callsigns. Easiest is with light, but I can whistle if need be."

accalia

"Theres a flasklight in the red equipment box, Will that work for signaling?" Tony asks.

yamikuronue

"Yeah, should work." Vic goes in search of the light.

accalia

Tony doesn't reply, this is Vic's bit right now, besides Tony's looking forward to Vic learning how to work a lobster pot. It's going to be a long way to shore, there's now ay Vic'll be fast enough to take the pots at speed tonight....

yamikuronue

Vic points out the ship moments before he flashes the signal; he holds his breath until the counter-signal is returned. The shipment turns out to be four large barrels of high-grade rum, for which Vic has been given the payment ahead of time. He staggers a little under the weight of the casks as he helps get them on board rapidly, but he knows better than to complain. After all, nobody likes a whiner.

accalia

Tony blanches slightly at the shipment, there's no way he can hide that in this tiny craft.... best hope the excuse of working the lobster pots keeps anyone from bothering.

yamikuronue

Vic counts out the money and turns back to Tony. "Alright. Let's get going."

accalia

"Back to work then. Grab that boat hook, you'll need it in a minute to grab the rope for the first pot." Tony says as he kicks the engine back into gear and starts heading back to where his brother's lobster pots are.

yamikuronue

Vic picks up the hook, struggling with its length; he's a short kid, and scrawny.

accalia

Tony cuts the engine a minute later and points at a float that the boat is now drifting by.

"Grab it with the hool, there's a rope underneath to grab. then we'll pull it up and the trap at the bottom."

yamikuronue

Vic struggles with the hook, trying to maneuver it into the water to grab the trap. Despite the difficulty, he doesn't ask for help, or even guidance. He just keeps trying.
