The Gig [Finished]

"The right thing. You honestly believe his lies?" Giovanni's tone is slow and measured, as though he's not sure how stupid Tony can be.

[accalia]

"Yes." Tony's answer is instant "I've worked with him for months. I've caught him out in lies, and i'm a cop. I know how to read people. He was not lying to me when he came to me for help, and he wasn't lying when he talked to you, trying to do the right thing. I can't speak to the actual facts of the matter, as i wasn't present at the time, but i know he was and is telling the truth as he understands it."

"And my daughter doesn't lie to me. She and three of her guards all tell the same story: he pushed her against a wall and forced himself upon her. Said he was going to have what he wanted, no matter what."

[accalia]

Tony laughs at that. "Trust me, there's literally no way Vic could possibly do what she says he threatened her with. And I do actually mean literally. At this point though it's his and my word against your daughter's, there were no other witnesses and her guards are only reporting what she told them happening. I know that Vic is innocent, and I'm certain enough to stake my actual life on it. If he is lying my life is forfeit, and in that case i will make sure that those letters that are supposed to be sent in the event of my death or dismemberment are never actually sent."

Giovanni crosses his arms, studying Tony critically. Truth be told, he'd intended to ask for Vic as a proof that Tony was willing to work with the Family again, but this... may be worth looking into.

"I'll tell you what." he says, after a moment. "You're an investigator. Prove your claims. I will give you one week to prove the boy's innocence -- without getting yourself into further trouble."

[accalia]

Tony nods, that's well enough. he can work with that. Vic will be pissed, but there's only so much Tony can do about that.

"Alright. Tomorrow, 20:00, you and me, alone, no one else in the room. You can have as many guards as you want, but they wait outside the room. If I leave the room before you do they shoot me dead, if you leave first and don't tell them not to shoot me they shoot me dead. Either I'll have the proof by then or I won't ever be able to give it to you without violating the promise I've made to Vic. Is that agreeable?"

"Noon, or Wednesday. Tomorrow's full -- more so if I have to have someone cover your mission tonight."

[accalia]

"Noon then. That will make for a long shift at work,  but i can lose a few hours of sleep if it's for a good cause. The meeting will be very short in any case." Tony agrees to the change in schedule. "I'll have Mr. Broken Nose give me the details of the job, Vic and I'll take care of it immediately."

Tony's assuming Vic's on probation now rather than completely out, and he identifies the man who first grabbed him by the most notable feature of his face, Tony having not gotten the man's name yet. Both are huge assumptions to make, but Tony has the feeling that Giovanni appreciates people with a solid brass pair of something that nature has seen fit to not actually provide Tony with.

Giovanni catches his eye, holding his gaze. "You will not fail me in this." he says, flatly. "You know the risks by now, I trust."

[accalia]

"If I fail, I die. If i don't succeed hard enough, I die. If I succeed too hard, I die. This is all pretty old hat to me by now." Tony replies "Oh, where shall I meet you in..." Tony checks his watch for the time "About fourteen hours?" And Tony's just lucky that he happened to have been covering day shift today, that doesn't happen often at all, otherwise he'd have less than five hours to get the job done, talk to Vic, get yelled at a lot by Vic, and get Vic's permission to reveal their secret to Giovanni.... or flee the state, that's also an option Tony guesses.

"Here." Giovanni turns to leave. "See that the package is delivered. It is instrumental in my plans."

[accalia]

"Right then." tony turns to Broken Nose "What's the pickup?"

[yamikuronue]

"Big Tony's got the location. You're moving a vehicle, and it's a bit of a haul."

[accalia]

Tony walks out front then to talk with Big Tony.

"Evening Tony, Can i get a pair of Tori specials to go. Boss says i got a trip to make and it's a bit of a haul, best to grab something good to eat first, yeah?"

Big Tony looks visibly relieved. "Get yourself in a spot of trouble at work?" he jokes, setting about making the sandwiches.
