"Um, it's... I mean, I... I think it's okay?" squeaks Vic, clearly nervous, as he stops backing up.

"Well, Regardless of what happens, you will always be family to me." Tony says "I think I can't be more.... romantic with you, but you are still family to me."

As far as "let's just be friends" talks go it's a pretty mild one.

Vic nods. "I didn't mean to-- I know you don't feel the same. I knew that. But, I just, wanted to be honest..."

accalia

"It's important to be honest." Tony admits. "Thank you."

yamikuronue

Vic nods. "So..."

accalia

Tony looks confused, clearly Vic's looking for something more, but of course Tony's not sure what that is.

"I'm pretty bad at this whole relationship thing, aren't i?" Tony asks, obliquely admitting his lapse of attention.

yamikuronue

Vic gives a low chuckle. "So am I."

He shifts a little, moving closer to the door, as if to ask if they're done. And then there's the matter of the folded note...

accalia

Tony seems to remember the folded note at this point and flips it open to read.

After reading the note Tony places it carefully on the coffee table in front of him. Standing he walks to Vic and hugs the startled teen.

"Thank you."

Vic wraps his arms around Tony, letting out a long-held breath. Safe... and home. he thinks, closing his eyes and nestling into the hug.

The wedding is held in Tony's backyard, on a bright, sunny June afternoon. The attendees are small -- family only, the couple had said, with a wink and a smile. Kate wore a white gown, sending many of her friends into fits of giggles at her knowing smirk. The flower girl had short hair and seemed to walk awkwardly in skirts, and for some reason also carried the rings; the reception was only dry in theory, as somehow they knew where to get good rum for newfashioned cock-tails.

Their family was not rich, nor were they grand. They had no strict code of honor like the Family did. and neither were they entirely honorable, upstanding people. And yet, they had the most important things: love, and hope.
