The morning sun was streaming into Tony's face as awareness seeped into his tired brain. Instantly, a sense of familiarity washed over him: he was home. He'd woken three times since he'd been laid out on his couch, and each time, Vic had been there, waiting for him, watching over him. Protecting him.

Loving him.

"What day is it?" Tony asks, it seems like it's been..... either about two hours or two years.... and neither answer sounds right.

"Saturday," says Vic, her voice soft. "How are you feeling? Do you want some soup?"

[accalia]

"Feel like a truck hit me." Tony says, trying to sit and failing "What happened? Saw you at Big Tony's. Gun. Then... chasing you? Lots of pain, but... I found you?" Tony's trying to make sense of things in his head, he knows he's not remembering something important... "Something i said, it's important..."

This is frustrating, Tony knows that he does remember, but the pieces are all in the wrong order, and he's sure a couple of them fell to the floor and got kicked under the fridge in all the excitement.

Vic's face falls. "You... don't remember," she says, quietly.

"You got shot." Her voice is firmer, almost talking over her previous utterance, not leaving room for him to comment. "Trying to save me. That was stupid, by the way."

[accalia]

"I remember, Just, not sure i got everything in the right order." Tony admits "At least, I think I got everything... Pretty sure."

Tony thinks for a moment then blinks... "Oh....." and blushes deeply. "Family. Love." he whispers.... "I wasn't going to admit it. Thought you didn't want it. That you might run away. Didn't want that."

Oh good. He hadn't forgotten, it just took a moment to put it all together. Not entirely surprising that, considering what happened.

Vic looks down at her bare feet. "I... You really meant it?" She's not really asking him; she's more wondering at it, surprised by the intensity of the emotions he screamed at her while bleeding in his kitchen.

"You are my family." Tony says sincerely. "man, woman, Victoria, or Vic. You are you, and you are family to me."

"I'd thought you were playing it up, or delusional," she says, softly. "I'd thought, you'd come to your senses once I was gone. You'd see how bad I was for you, how much better you had it without me."

[accalia]

Tony glares at Vic and motions her closer. "Get over here a moment." he threatens as best he can. "that's a silly thought. You being bad for me. I'm going to hug you till that thought can't find room in your head to sit."

[yamikuronue]

A smile plays along the edges of her lips. "Hey, you're injured," she protests. "You know. From being shot. Because of me."

[accalia]

"Didn't have a choice. You are family. couldn't have left it alone. Would have preferred to not be shot, but you're safe, and this will heal, so it's all good in the end." Tony is pretty firm on that subject before he links "wait..... He called you his lieutenant. Just before I got shot Giovanni told that guy to eave his lieutenant alone. He meant you?"

Vic blushes a bit. "It doesn't matter. Now that I've told everyone I'm female, he won't be able to let me serve under him."

[accalia]

"Did he say that, or did you?" Tony asks coldly "Because if he said it he just earned himself a black eye, courtesy of a Tony Special." and with that Tony raises a clenched fist, for a moment anyway, it doesn't stay raised long.
