speed wise, probably about as fast as Echo (he did just clear about 7 or 8 feet before his movement was registered and caught a fist in mid punch)

looks like Lance has transformed at least partially.... and Obsidan knows some magic that's helping him hold his own, and more because Obsidian knows how to fight and Lance has just relied on his speed to end fights up until now.

or did i miss something?

That's pretty accurate, actually. Obsidian is not the most studious, so what he DID figure out is that you can get a lot of effects if you set up an array first and give commands. Maybe not as versitile as being an acutal mage or wizard, but good if you know what you're dealing with.
