The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Varric]

Varric starts to nods, pauses, then picks up his whiskey. "Give me two minutes to finish this," he says with a smile. And sips, savors, swallows.

[Shisou]

Over the next two days, much more of the novel is shared between the various participants. Carol worsens, making them place any talk of regencies on hold; Beth moves in with Marian, as the older sister worries about the effect Carol is having on her twin. At that point, all that's left to do is wait and see what Carol does as she begins to detox from the tonics.

Soushi-hime drops by the next evening as promised, seeming relieved to see them all more or less holding together. She promises to check in once a week in case she finds anything; therefore, nobody is expecting it when she turns up on Lightsong's door, panting, with no sign of her reptilian familiar. 

"Oh good," she gasps, leaning against the doorframe. "You're safe. You have to leave town. Now."

[Haliel Lightsong]

Without thinking, Lightsong reaches over to lay her hand on Soushi-hime's shoulder. A ripple of optimistic compassion sweeps over the hero, taking her fatigue and aches with it. "Wait, what? What's going on?"

[Shisou]

"He knows who I am," says Soushi, in a terrified whisper. "He found me in my other face. He says he's going to find Beth, and he's going to have you and me both arrested. He wanted me to tell him where she was."

[Haliel Lightsong]

Other face? What? "I- what? He- Jadan? Arrested for what?"

[Shisou]

"The story going around is that Beth kidnapped Carol, and he's trying to get her back. The rumors are that you and I are helping him." Soushi-hime takes a deep breath, trying to steady herself. 

[Haliel Lightsong]

Truth be told, that is not entirely wrong. Miss Carol did not actually consent to flee. Still... "I see. He must not have gotten a write yet or one of the other Rays would have come to inform me..." Stepping back, she waves her inside. "Brianne, would you mind running to get Mister Varric? I suspect we might have need of his skills shortly." I would never have thought I would be so... accustomed to cloak and dagger stuff a few short months ago.

[GamesMaster]

Brianne nods. "Understood, ma'am," she says, slipping out the door. Guide nothing, I'm more of a messenger boy these days.

[Shisou]

"No, but I think he's leaning on the Guard. I won't be able to go back to my job, he knows who  I am. Dammit, dammit," she swears, wiping angry tears from her eyes. 

[Haliel Lightsong]

Moving in again, Lightsong goes for a hug. "I am sorry that your good deeds have brought you to harm. Is there anyone in danger because of this? Family or..?"

[Shisou]

"No, I don't have family. But he took Carbonne. I'm sorry, I'm a mess because xe's angry and terrified, I can feel xir but I can't do anything about it."

[Haliel Lightsong]

"That must be terrible." She tightens her hug for a moment. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

[Shisou]

Shiori shakes her head, clinging to Lightsong. "No, with any luck he'll kill xem, then I can resummon xem and we'll be free. But he probably knows that. He knows everything. So you have to take the girls and run, before he finds you."

[Haliel Lightsong]

"I... See. That is strange but handy," she allows. "Do you not need help freeing xe? Or escaping?"

[Tethras Clan]

Hmmm. So killed while escaping could be an option for the strange lizard. Good to know. Zevran winces as he shifts silently in the hall, safe in his invisibility.
