Marian Hawke

"I was expelled," she whispers. "I... I thought I'd have to join a gang to survive. There's a place, in the Tesseline district, a great tall building you can get on the roof of... I was planning to go in the morning, but Seeker got to me first."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Too dwarf to go for heights," he murmurs. "Still. You didn't. You survived, you lived, you love. An apology or some penance might be an idea- talk to Shiny I'd say, ask her opinion with as little or as much context as you like. Own what you did, what you thought. Don't let it rule you."

Marian Hawke

"Lightsong? She'd never understand," says Marian softly. "But then... I suppose... I suppose if she doesn't I don't deserve to have her."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"She might surprise you. Or maybe I overestimated her. But I think the odds are in your favor there," Varric replies supportively. And no offense, but it would be nice if you could have some heart to hearts with her at times. All this touchy-feely stuff is wearying.

Marian Hawke

Marian nods. "I think.... I think it might be nice to tell Helene, as well," she says quietly. "Make sure she knows how... how important she was."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Yeah," Varric says with a firm nod. "Yeah, that would... help a lot. She... she really feels left out. I think she's actually the worst of us at connecting to people or emotions in general. Which is... kind of sad, honestly."

Marian Hawke

Marian nods. "I did talk to her a little, before. When... after you came and got me. I think she just... doesn't know how to show what she feels. I've been having trouble getting my feelings across to Beth, as well."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Feel like we should make a club. I could have little hats made. Need to find out if any of us can bake." Sobering, he sighs and heads back to this chair. I should make a point of taking time to talk with Seeker as well. Privately, check in on how she's doing. "How so? With Bethany, I mean?"

Marian Hawke

"I just... I don't really know her, do I? I don't know what she needs. How to help."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Try asking," Varric asks with a shrug. "She won't give a full answer of course- not because she's lying, though she might, but because she won't know. People never know all of what they need. But it gives you a start."

Marian Hawke

"Oh," says Marian, quietly.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Kiss," Varric says with a grin and shrug.

Marian Hawke

She shakes her head, a hint of a grin flitting across her lips. "Alright. I'll propose the regent idea -- and start trying to figure out what's really going on here. There's.... there's definitely some missing pieces to this story."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Story? Right now we have a handful of pages ripped from a novel out of sequence."

Marian Hawke

She nods. "Alright. I'll head back, then. Coming with?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
