The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Isabela]

"Barely," groans Isabela. "It's like housebreaking a puppy. She's cute, but she wees on everything."

[Zevran]

Zevran snorts. "Not used to virgins or near enough, ma'Bela?" His tone sounds honestly curious, interested as always hearing about the life that Isabela created for herself. Doesn't matter how trivial or banal, it all seems to fascinate him. 

[Isabela]

"Not used to sticking around this long. I'm more of a, awaken the hunger and leave them to their own devices after, kind of girl. Isabela doesn't do commitment."

[Zevran]

"You've mentioned," the merikos drow observes lightly. "Does it bother you more than it delights? Should we be working to... distance ourselves gently? It could be awkward, if it sours before this quest is over."

[Isabela]

"It's fine," she says casually. "but don't encourage her wild ideas. Catching feelings will only lead to heartbreak."

[Zevran]

"She does seem... eager to attach," Zevran allows. "Which is not... Well. Given how she seems to be treating her last partner..."

[Isabela]

"That one's definitely not my problem. She keeps dropping these little hints about whatever happened between them, but Isabela wants nothing to do with their drama."

[Zevran]

Which means it shall fall to me. Ah well. I suppose I did promise Beth to look after her sister, which is not specific to merely physical danger. "Understandable," he agrees. "But enough of our pup- how are you, ma'bela?"

[Isabela]

"Isabela's always alright," she laughs. "Glad to be finally getting to the adventure part of this little trip."

[Zevran]

"My company was not adventure enough?" he counters. "But seriously... you are... okay? Given the... nature of our quest?" It seems this Bianca was well of age before she was sold off for politics but... the similarities are not small.

[Isabela]

Isabela instinctively moves to deflect: "Of course. What do I care about some dwarves?" she asks, before taking a deep breath. "No, I know what you-- just, don't spread that sort of thing around. You're... well, the only living person who knows that particular fact."

[Zevran]

"I had no plan to do so," he assures her gravely, turning to lean against the window sill and met her eyes. "I know well the pain of old memories."

[Isabela]

Isabela studies him a moment, then asks a distinctly un-Isabela question: "Are you doing alright with this?"

[Zevran]

"I am... pleased in some ways, unquieted in others," he admits after a long moment. "It feels good to... to have a purpose, a goal- but one I choose to take. Beth is very special to me and I owe her a great many debts. It is good to be able to pay some of that back- but I did not have to. That is... an incredible feeling."

[Isabela]

"You're like me," she says, with a smile. "Freedom is addictive."
