Go Down

Marian Hawke

"Beth," whispers Marian, shivering despite the hot fire. "Carol. I-- I'm sorry. I never thought things were this bad for you, I never... I would have come sooner if I only knew. It was made clear I wasn't allowed to come ho-- back."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Shisou

"I have a scar," whispers Shiori, looking at her lap. "In my.... in my other form, when the mask is off, there's a scar. I keep saving up, thinking to cover it with a tattoo. I'm tired of being the weird kid who... everyone can tell what it's from."

Varric

Gods be damned. Fine. "My mother died when I was young. Father drank himself to death over the next few years. Other shite happened. Came up with a plan for it. Came up with a lot of plans. Went with another one."

Marian Hawke

Marian is quiet for a while, looking at the fire. "It's... all of us, isn't it? We're all.. hurting in some way. Lost, broken, alone. I think... I think we have to trust each other if we want to stop feeling alone. We have to be able to... Bright gods, it's so hard. I can barely think about it without.... but if I hadn't said anything we'd never know. We have to be there for each other because, because we don't have anyone else, do we? Seeker doesn't, and if Varric had somewhere else to be I'm sure he would by now, and... and Lightsong, you were alone when I found you. And Beth and Carol, running away from home, and... and I'm sorry, Bright's, I don't know where you came from really.."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Vigile

Vigile wiggles a little so he can speak out from around Beth's arms. "Ah, well, obviously I was originally from The Lair of Guardians, but recently... well, I was a slave. Well, a pet after that- I managed to trick some of the guards into assuming I was part of another cargo, of magical animals. Certain... signs indicated that I should wait at the shop, instead of finishing my escape." He growls softly. It was... an unpleasant time. And... It is not the same, I know, as it is not an end of my journey, but at times I did consider pushing my captors into using lethal force and accepting centuries of banishment."

Marian Hawke

Marian swallows, again, again. She can't find air, her mouth is a desert, her hands shake, but she somehow manages to find words, distant and faraway and Celestial: "I was taken captive. I was-- I-- they would have sold me, but--"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

Helene, hesitantly, reaches out and puts a hand on Marian's leg. "You are safe, Apprentice. We rescued you. You are among family now."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong rises to her feet and kneels next to Marian so she can hug her. "You are safe," she repeats softly. "We will protect you. We will come for you. Everytime, anytime."

Bethany

I... capture? No, was made captured. And... dhíoltar... that's... sold? Sold. No. "You- you were taken as a slave?"

Marian Hawke

Marian nods, taking a deep breath, then another. "Thank you," she whispers in Celestial, before changing back to Common: "I-- yes. When I.. when I vanished. That's where Hunter and I went."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Vigile

"I am sorry that you had to go through that. Mortals do not thrive well in chains." Growling softly, the pavitra fights the urge to flex his claws out of concern for Beth. "Which is not to say that I enjoyed it either. I... I must confess that were I to see that merikos drow bastard again, I would be perhaps less restr- Lady Bethany, is something amiss?"

Bethany

"N-nothing?" she squeaks. Zevran? What- no, there have to be- be more than one...

Marian Hawke

Marian takes a deep breath, then another. "S-so, I'm g-going to try to... to talk more about..."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Shisou

"Would it help if I took the mask off?" asks Soushi-hime, softly. "I didn't... want to. I wasn't sure I could trust you. But... would it help? Honestly?"

Haliel Lightsong

"You don't have to, if it makes you uncomfortable. But... but you can trust us," Lightsong says gently. She offers a smile and an attempt at a joke. "Unless you turn into a sceleratis when you take that mask off, I think we'll be fine."
