[Helene Dakesh]

"This one has noticed Apprentice Hawke's attempts to distance herself from the events of yesterday and imply that more time has passed. This one wished to be certain that Apprentice Hawke is emotionally well. That is all."

[Marian Hawke]

"I'm fine," says Marian.

[Helene Dakesh]

"You are lying. Do not do this. If you do not wish for this one's concern, this one will give distance, but do not lie to this one. Truth is a virtue and this one-- this one has earned at least some truth."

[Marian Hawke]

Marian gives a bitter, broken laugh. "Do you know, that's more or less the same speech I got yesterday? Nobody ever wants the truth when I give it, it just causes more problems."

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one has only ever wanted truth from Apprentice Hawke! This one has never been granted it. This one cares for Apprentice Hawke, and yesterday's--"

[Marian Hawke]

"Since when," mutters Marian.

[Helene Dakesh]

"Yesterday's incident frightened this one," presses on the Seeker. "This one has never wished Apprentice Hawke harm. Never."

[Varric]

"And pause again! Seriously- Seeker, simply saying it more than once isn't enough. Explain why and how you care about Tabby. She needs something to give it weight. Tabby, give Seeker a shot here. You have to realize by now how hard it is to explain o express emotions or personal opinions."

[Helene Dakesh]

"Why? This one simply does. Apprentice Hawke has spent the past several years with this one, and has shown herself to be an intelligent, capable young woman, as well as a skilled liar. This one does not understand why the lying is necessary."

[Marian Hawke]

"It seems like you care more about the lying than my running off," snaps Marian.

[Helene Dakesh]

"No," says Helene sharply. "This one is frightened at the idea that you may die. This one desires a more positive outcome than that." 

[Marian Hawke]

Now Marian falls silent, looking away.

[Varric]

There we go... "Seeker can't... handle lies well. They make it impossible for proper understanding and analysis. And without that, how can one come up with a good plan or even just a response? It can paralyze."

[Marian Hawke]

"Yeah, well, I lie a lot. If you can't handle that--"

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one has been handling the lies for years," cuts in Helene again. "It is the suicidal ideation that frightens this one."
