[Marian Hawke]

Marian scoffs. "That's nothing new."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene frowns. "Apprentice Hawke has been feeling this way for years?"

[Marian Hawke]

"N-no, I mean, on and off, you know..." Why did I say that? she wonders, rubbing the back of her neck. 

[Helene Dakesh]

"Must this one cast?" asks Helene, sadly. 

[Marian Hawke]

"What?! You can't-- that's an invasion of privacy!"

[Helene Dakesh]

"If it is necessary to preserve your life, this one will do so without hesitation or regret."

[Marian Hawke]

Marian sputters. "But -- what -- where is this coming from!?"

[Varric]

"It's this neat thing called 'caring and concern.' Not really something you blood family seems to embrace much but give it a shot."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene, seeing Marian still at a loss, goes in for the kill: "This one has been accused of being poor at communication, so please do not misunderstand this one: the death of Apprentice Marian Hawke is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. This one will do anything within this one's power if this one believes that Apprentice Hawke is in danger, including but not limited to casting truthing spells, physically restraining Apprentice Hawke, or paying for a Geasing ritual."

[Marian Hawke]

"You have no right," growls Marian.

[Helene Dakesh]

"Perhaps. This one is perhaps a hypocrite of the worst kind. But this one does not lie."

[Varric]

Varric scratches his chin for a few seconds, then nods. "Yeah, sounds about right."

[Marian Hawke]

"Fine," spits Marian. "If you both care so damn much, why were you casually discussing sending me away to be tortured behind my back?!"

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene blinks. "Wh-what? This one does not recall such a conversation."

[Varric]

And that's the last clue. The timing, her sudden step back from Seeker, her comments about being different... and now this. "The conversation we were having in the library just prior to Tabby running off. Did you leave before I rather strongly disagreed or are you ignoring that? And for Seeker, remember that they still consider that shite to be worthwhile medical treatment for various reasons."
