NPCs

"I am Dau," the flowers correct Carver kindly.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Carver Amell

NPCs

"I am a Daughter."

Granny Peli snickers softly. "Dau is the eldest of Raplin's children, His Daughters. He was made before Raplin understood much about animals, bodies, socialization or... well, anything that a plant wouldn't need to know to live. Each Daughter is sort of a... bridge to understanding more about mortals."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Marian Hawke

"And you craft flesh? Was it hard for you to learn, given you're not mammalian?" asks Marian, fascinated.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

NPCs

"Experience and practice imparts understanding," Dau replies, the flowers blinking somehow.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Bethany

"Uh, practice on who?" Beth asks a little urgently.

NPCs

"Ah! That is a known question/worry!" Dau seems very pleased at that fact. "Practice was self-directed. Father did not imbue the shell of Dau with permanence. It must be crafted anew often." A pause. "Very often."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Carver Amell

Carver hesitates. "So you can't change someone permanently?"

NPCs

Dau considers that for a moment. "All living things grow and change. The changes I can impose can and will be overridden by subsequent growth. But forward, not backwards."

"Plants don't like that long, not small ones," Peli explains. "Right now, Dau us made of wildflowers and moss- that body won't last more than a year, tops, then he'll have to make a new one. Not that he often bothers to keep one even that long these days, now that he's good enough to make a new one in a minute or so."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Haliel Lightsong

"So he... just jumps shells on a whim?" Lightsong asks, sounding both taken aback and amazed.
I am the Light of My Soul.

NPCs

Rather than answering out loud, the clump of flowers falls apart. A moment later, a tendril of wood curls out of the floor, then breaks off in the vague shape of a mortal. Once formed, Dau waves.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Carver Amell

Carver jumps back, looking dubious. "But... she does know about people? Not people made of plants but real people?"

Marian Hawke

Marian winces. "Mortals, humans," she corrects.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

NPCs

"I am male," Dau says politely.

"Since I was a little girl, oh, about a million years ago," Peli says with a grin.

Dau blinks, then a light burbling noise comes form the root-golem. "She is exaggerating for humor. She is only three centuries old."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Haliel Lightsong

"Umm. Thank you?" Lightsong says with a weak grin. "But, ah, you have fleshcrafted human bodies before, correct?"
I am the Light of My Soul.
