The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

"Can they not be simply dispelled?" Haliel presses.

[Varric]

"Magical tattos are more like magical items than spells. Dispelling, if it works, would only suppress it for a short time. You need a Break Enchantment spell, then a targeted cleaning spell to remove the... deactivated ink."

[Marian Hawke]

"If-- would-- would seeing them help? Could you figure out what it's for, then?"

[Varric]

"Wouldn't hurt- the most common methods involve working runescript into the design," Varric says carefully. "But that can wait if you... need time."

[Marian Hawke]

Marian nods, putting her glass down as she reaches to lift her tunic over her head. It exposes the script around her belly button, her piercings -- she's not wearing her breastband, as she's gotten used to not needing it. 

She turns, then, showing him the designs across her back: the dragon curled around a hawk, both made of runes in colored ink, and the smaller, "abstract" design at the small of her back.

[Varric]

Varric had winced and looked away to start, then looks back when he hears her shifting around. "Dragon- oh, go ahead and remove the piercing, if you can. No sense leaving them in any longer than needed," he murmurs. The hawk is obvious but... hmmm. He clears his throat, leaning in to study the designs for a few minutes. "Ah. Top one is pretty typical- seen it before as examples in texts. Medical mostly. Prevents catching a very, uh, specific subset of diseases and controls fertility. Prevents or guarantees pregnancy based on... huh. That part is atypical- it's done by external control, keyed to... ah. Tanna can control them, turn it on or off, switch from prevention to enhanced fertility."

[Marian Hawke]

"Enhanced?" she squeaks. "She told me she'd work in pregnancy for the top, disease for the bottom one. she said I'd have control of them, since they're in my body, for when I want to-- she never said anything about-- I need to take a urine sample," she whimpers. "no, it's too soon. I'll need a few weeks at least."

[Zevran]

"There are spells that can find out after the first two weeks in a merikos," Zevran supplies softly. "They won't be completely accurate, as sometimes the shell is not strong enough to last very long, but they can at least confirm a no with certainty." He pauses. "Or you can simply take womb-bane now, to... ensure a negative result."

[Varric]

"The top one does both," Varric adds after Zevran finishes. "Still figuring out what the..." He hesitates a second. Wait, if you.... "Bottom one does," he finishes, slightly distracted.

[Marian Hawke]

"Yes," she says quickly. "Ciren forgive me but yes. I'll take the womb-bane. I -- a few nights ago, I -- there were dozens of strangers," she fumbles. 

[Varric]

Varric chokes softly, trying to hide his reaction to the very idea of having sex with so many people. All at once and strangers to boot. 

[Isabela]

"I have some. For accidents," Isabela offers, quickly. "You can have it."

[Zevran]

Zevran flashes a smile at Isabela, taking the chance to gauge how she's handling this as well.

Her answering smile is a little shaky, but she gives it nonetheless.

"Do you want help with the piercings?" Haliel asks quietly. Can't be any harder than taking out bits of shrapnel or the like from a wound.
