The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Shannon zi'Marass]

The servant bows politely, then withdraws. Less than five minutes later, the door is pushed open roughly and Shannon bursts into the room. She's wearing a flowing white dress with gold and silver stitching, her hair done up with a ribbon in the same style. She spots Beth, who is already rising to her feet, and lets out a pleased cry. The pair rush to each other, hugging tightly and making soft exclamations of joy.

[Carver Amell]

Carver rubs at his temple, turning back to the lists they were poring over a moment prior. I may as well get some work done...

[Bethany]

The two girls keep at it for a minute or so before Beth finally pulls back. "Oh! Proper introductions, finally. Lady Shannon zi'Marass, might I introduce you to my brother, Lord Merchant Carver zi'Amell."

[Shannon zi'Marass]

The older girl, arm still around Beth, gives Carver a once over, then smiles. "La, look at you. Rugged and broad. Manhood suits you, Lord zi'Amell."

[Carver Amell]

He rubs the back of his neck, eyeing her for a moment before he inclines his head. "Thank you. I thought so."

[Shannon zi'Marass]

"Still shy I see," she teases, winking at him. Then she sobers a little. "You're going to want to work on that, and soon. It's not been a full day since your Lighthood was confirmed, at least temporarily, and I'm already getting word of people putting together balls and teas with you as the prize of honor. Guest. Guest of honor." She doesn't put any real effort into making her correction seem believable.

[Carver Amell]

Carver winces. "Thanks for the heads-up."

[Shannon zi'Marass]

Shannon shrugs a little. "Beth is a dear friend, it seemed the least I could do." 

[Bethany]

Beth bites her lip, then asks warily, "what's the general mood about us?"

[Shannon zi'Marass]

"Mmmh. I would say 'interest' is the best one-word answer. Curiosity is rife, on my yes, but also avarice and anger. There no few who are very displeased that you have returned and are making at least an attempt at keeping your Lighthood."

[Carver Amell]

"Great," says Carver, in a dark tone. He knew this was coming, of course, but it doesn't make it any more pleasant to hear. 

[Shannon zi'Marass]

"Oh la, Carver darling, you'll do fine," Shannon says winesomely. "I'm here to do more than just give a warning." She pulls Beth a little closer who flushes slightly. "I'll catch Beth up on all the latest and come up with some plans to help navigate the social waters. Don't suppose you have anyone you fancy?"

[Bethany]

"Ah, he's actually got a girlfriend," Beth supplies, then hums. "Actually... We should go catch up, then find Merrill and maybe spa together? Get her feet wet a bit with a friendly crowd?"

[Shannon zi'Marass]

"Brilliant! Well, I hate to chat and run, Lord Merchant," the older girl says with a wink. "But gossip waits for no mortal and Beth has been gone for ages."

[Carver Amell]

"Of course," says Carver dismissively, turning back to the list of names. Damn... I'll have to finish up myself. They're sure to grab Shiori and Merrill.
