Solras, The Protector

"Well, being an adventurer should be fine, so long as you're not a day from retirement." a smile "After all, in all the adventures the guard always makes it through anything until the day before their retirement. So really being an adventurer and a guard should be safer than being just a guard, since the story won't let you die too early."

Okay the logic is definitely wrong there, but with Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch's confident monotone delivery it's pretty hard to spot where it could possibly be wrong.

Wylde

Wylde barks out another laugh. "True enough," she concedes. "How about you? You ever get that old adventuring wanderlust?"

Solras, The Protector

"I have walked to the very cliff at the end of this world. I have stared into the abyss that is beyond. I took the step over the edge, and were it not for the hand of a friend catching mine as i stepped I would still be falling into the next world." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch says simply "No, I think my taste for adventure is well and truly slaked for now. Ask me again when my first century lies behind me."

Wylde

Wylde blinks. "Don't think I've heard that one either," she points out, "if you care to tell it."

Solras, The Protector

"You heard the story this very night. At least as much as is mine to tell." is the rather surprised response. It was pretty clear that the druid saved her from the very lip of death, no?

Wylde

Wylde blinks, then blushes. "Oh. You meant metaphorically. That makes way more sense. I was trying to figure out when you learned how to-- nevermind. Just, you hear things, in Nyra."

Solras, The Protector

There's a literal cliff of death, an unending drop into the next world?...... knowing that was actually a real place almost makes her want to adventure again to see the place that the stories of her people talk about...

it's a long moment where she stays lost in thought. Yeah it looks like she's not coming back to reality without prompting.... or with patience she'll probably come back on her own in a couple of minutes.

Wylde

"So I've been saving up to get one of those mechanical clocks," says Wylde, looking for a topic. "They're said to ring out in the morning, to get you up?"

Solras, The Protector

When you get one, get the one called 'Morning Rooster' from Gilded and Dragon up on merchants way. They're the little shop just between the jewelry exchange, and the Bruno's Leatherwork. That alarm will wake you up with a smile on your face every morning." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch says with the air of certain and intimate knowledge of this fact.

Wylde

"Yeah?" asks Wylde, surprised. "Thanks, I'll check them out."

Solras, The Protector

"Don't mention it. Just tell them i sent you and they'll get you set up with their best alarm clock." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch says with a nod and an impish smile. "Just, I'd advise against letting Dragon give the demonstration. Gilded'll do a better job demonstrating for you, if you ask her the right way."

Wylde

"...who names their kid Dragon?" wonders Wylde. "That's just asking for adventuring luck."

Solras, The Protector

"I'm reasonably sure he chose it for himself." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch replies evenly. It was probably out of pride, but that's subjective really.

Wylde

"Oh. That's fair, I guess," says Wylde, dubiously.

Solras, The Protector

"I would think it so. one should always approve of their name, for else it is not a name but a curse." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch says trying to sound sage like.... and failing due to her faulty tonality.
