Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch shakes her head "It was not like that. When we met I was in need of shelter from the winter storms. She let me stay. I felt grateful for that, it was a grand kindness given her obvious terror of me, I wished to repay the kindness. But in the end the best repayment I could give is to leave and never give anyone directions to visit that place. She did not want visitors, she did not want me, but she shared warmth when I would have died elsewise. It hurts that I could not return the kindness in full. It does not hurt that I was, and still am, not wanted. There are other places I am wanted, and needed."

Wylde

"Ah," says Wylde, nodding. "Sounds like not quite a crush then."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch nods "As I understand the term, I think you are correct." she says, feeling a bit relieved that Wylde didn't ask why she was in such dire condition that a half crazed druid took pity on her and shared the warmth of their home.... yet at least. She was pretty sure Wylde would eventually ask, and therefore receive the answer, but it seems today is not that day.

Wylde

"I had a stupid crush as a girl," Wylde continues. "On my teacher, if you can believe it. He was young and handsome and I just wanted to lure him out to the woods and ride him. Got caught kissing him and sent to live with an aunt in Nyra, and that was the end of that."

Solras, The Protector

"Kissing... Is it really that taboo where you came from? Sending you away in disgrace for such a thing seems rather extreme. More so if he was not similarly expelled." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch is confused again, but now that her understanding of romance is know it's pretty easy to figure out where her train of thought went wrong?

Wylde

"Well, I was a girl, you see. Underaged. He was an adult."

Solras, The Protector

A nod from Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch "Your behavior then at least is understandable, as is the actions taken. But for an adult to... No, forgive me." She stops herself before telling Wylde that her family would have castrated the man, or worse for giving in to her attention. Her family, and indeed every dwarven family she is aware of takes a very dim view of pedophilia. But the normally abrupt and direct Dwarf is also sensitive enough to know that this is not really the time to discuss that particular piece of her cultural morality, particularly given that by dwarven standards Wylde appears to *still*  be a girl who has not yet reached the age of majority.

Wylde

"I was nearly grown, or thought I was," she points out, with a sigh. "Was a rough hand, losing all my friends and cousins over a simple indiscretion. But I made the best of it. Still am, as you can tell."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch nods and agrees, yes Wylde is trying to make the best of her situation. Success.... well that remains to be seen. "Indeed, you are."

Wylde

"Fuck the sarge, right?" she says, after gulping down a swig of ale. "If she can't see how hard I'm trying, fuck her. Not my fault the city walls stop the sun coming in my window until well past time to get up. It's not natural, people ain't meant to live surrounded by stone."

Solras, The Protector

People are supposed to live surrounded by stone. that's the natural state of people to be in. Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch thinks at that comment. after a moment she decides to reply, instead of ignoring the comment as would possibly be more wise in the situation.

"Dwarves."

The rest of the comment is unsaid, Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch trusts that it is clear by context.

Wylde

Wylde flushes a little. "Alright, Dwarves maybe. But not us surface folk. I'd go bonkers if I lived underground like that."

Solras, The Protector

"I don't know about that, I imagine you'd like the extra two hours in the day, even more so since the standard working shift is still only nine hours." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch comments with a smile, the only hint that she might be teasing given her continuing monotonic speaking voice. Of course she's also got a reputation for not lying, so even though she is teasing odds are pretty good she's serious about the extra time in each day.

Wylde

Wylde sticks out her tongue. "Surfacers aren't made for shift-work, neither. In a lot of ways the city's harsher than the wilds."

Solras, The Protector

"That I won't argue with you on."  Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch admits with a smile "But the food is better, and at least you always have a warm and dry place to sleep... comparatively anyway."
