Go Down

Wylde

"Right. It's not up to us," agrees Wylde. "We're enforcers, not Lights. But the Lights should be taking a firmer hand. They need to prevent crime -- we're stretched way too thin trying to clean up after it, as you noticed."

Solras, The Protector

"The lights are the few." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch comments. An observation that, nothing more. Afterall, just because one is the few, that doesn't mean that they put their needs above that of the many. "Ah. Here we go. May I present to you, Gilded and Dragon."

She stops in front of the store. the window displays are on black velvet and... well they leave nothing to the imagination. The names Gilded and Dragon are very very obvious in the wares on display and it's not because they're signed.

Wylde

Wylde looks up, stopping dead in her tracks. A slow blush creeps across her pale pallet, as her eyes take in the forms before her -- lingering, Solras might notice, on the various breast-shaped depictions more than the phalluses. "This. Ah. This is the-- the shop with the clocks?" she stammers, a moment later.

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch smiles at the reaction, this is not the reaction she has anticipated, but it is rather amusing.

"The best alarms in all of Nyra. I said nothing about it being a clock as well." But subtract a letter and you're getting close. "This shop specialized in... Well you can see what they specialize in. And they are very good at what they do." she says indicating a discrete plaque next to one of the larger and more intricate displays of a dragon's dragon that offers a rather explicitly worded 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Wylde

"I-- I don't-- I don't think this is--" stammers Wylde, still staring. "Maybe a little look," she admits.

Solras, The Protector

"A little look indeed" Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch comments, smiling at the size of the items that seem to be holding Wylde's attention. Little indeed.

Wylde

Wylde, once coaxed to enter, hardly stops gaping for the entire quarter of an hour they spend shopping; when she finds the section with, ah, exotic toys, she can't help but buy one or two. She snickers at the oddly-shaped catfolk model, but ends up taking home one shaped like a canine, complete with inflatable knot at the base. She does buy the alarm Solras suggests, after a bit of deliberation, as well as an enchanted ring for a piercing Solras didn't know Wylde had.

The next day, she's on time to her shift -- a great sign. They change and head out, patrolling their normal Coalside route, when they hear signs of trouble down an alley. Turning down it, they find three humans with excessively large canines, cornering a familiar tuxedo-furred catfolk who has leapt onto some garbage cans to get a little further from the growling dogs.

Solras, The Protector

Sizing up the situation Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch decides to put off teasing Wylde by asking if the alarm was as effective as she had been promised, and insead raises a familliar cry.

"Oi! What's all this then?" the words thunder off the buildings hear by, rather louder and deeper than would be expected given her small frame.

GamesMaster

Two of the humans turn, keeping their dogs on Miki. "This cat stole from us last week," one grumbles. "We're just gettin' our gold back."

Solras, The Protector

"Theft is a serious crime, but not as serious as assault - or murder." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch states in the same loud voice projecting her words far and wide while walking closer. "My eyes cannot be telling me the truth, for it looks like you are preparing to commit assault, enacting extrajudicial punishment, against this person. This cannot be the truth, for you surely would have reported the theft to the Watch, who would now be pursuing the investigation of the crime you assert was committed against you with the intent of not only recovering your stolen goods, but also seeing that justice, and not murder, was done. So, My eyes must be lying to me, for that is not what such law abiding citizens such as yourselves would do."

Thanks to her normally monotone voice and relaxed posture the men in front of her would have a very hard time reading anything into the words other than a statement of fact, or at worst an idle policeman's inquiry. Wylde however knows Solras much better than the men she is addressing, the cat they have cornered, or even the crowd surrounding them. Wylde senses the dark fire of emotion now burning within Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch, and knows the menacing promise those words are making should the men in front of them not heed the hidden warning.

Wylde

What else can she do? Wylde falls in behind Solras, ready to take on steep odds -- three on two, and that's before you count the massive, clearly aggressive dogs -- rather than leave her partner to face them alone. It's her duty, after all: backing up her partner, protecting her, helping bluff her way through this conflict if she can.

And, it seems, she can. Two of the humans exchange looks before one speaks: "Right. We were just gonna hold him here while we ran and got you," he lies.

Solras, The Protector

"How fortunate then, that I am here now without needing to be fetched." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch says, only slightly dropping the volume, and  stopping her advance. "Since I am now here can I now assume that you will restrain your animals, and allow me to deal with the asserted criminal?" She does not agree that the catfolk is a criminal, only that the men have asserted this fact. That's a subtlety to her word choice that could be easily lost if one was not paying attention.

GamesMaster

"Sure, sure, says one, patting his side as one of the dogs peels off. The other two follow suit, and all three move to pass Solras to leave the alley. "He's all yours."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch steps to the side to allow them to pass. "The City thanks you for your conscientious efforts." she says to the departing men before approaching the cat on top of the garbage cans.

She looks him up and down once before asking "You injured?"

GamesMaster

He crouches, watching her warily, his tail moving about with some urgency, wagging like a dog -- but in a strange, disjointed manner. "No," he says, in accented Common.
