Go Down

Wylde

She shakes her head. "No, no. The other one. Tuff, he went by."

Solras, The Protector

"Oh. Why hasn't he visited?"

Wylde

"He hates the city. And I mean, that's fair, I hate the city too, but what can you do?"

Solras, The Protector

"Well you could take your leave, when you earn it, and go visit him." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch offers after a moment of thought.

Wylde

"I probably will," she says, shrugging. "Bit of a hike, but worth it, I think."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch nods and shakes free of the hug, having got over the worst of her reaction to the previous encounter. "Let's finish our patrol before the Captain sends a rescue party because we didn't come back on time."

she's not trying to end the conversation, Wylde is too used to her partner by now to mistake the comment for that, but she also wants to get moving from this place a bit faster than the slow walk they had been moving at before.

Wylde

Wylde falls into step, easily adapting to the quicker pace, her longer legs well used to this speed. Solras has never seen her tire, really; she seems perfectly suited to long jogs with occasional burst of high speed chases, her body barely protesting even in their recruit training.

On the next block, they slow again, this time because there's a growing crowd in the way. They're at the Bazaar, the outskirts of it anyway, and it's not uncommon for people to give speeches or lectures on the street corners here, hoping to bleed off some of the shoppers. And it's working; there's a small mob of interested people listening to the elven man on the soapbox.

"They cannot help their natures, for Teiris created them to be what they are -- but neither can we help but be disgusted by their criminal natures. Uryll may love all creatures of the wilderness, but neither do we allow all creatures to roam our streets preying upon our citizens!"

Seems to be getting a bit worked up... and so is the crowd.

Solras, The Protector

"keep an eye open for halfbricks will you?" Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch asks her partner before walking up to the crier and knocking politely on the elf's shins.

"Pardon me, but can I ask you a few questions? Just an inquiry you understand. We can just step to the side, over there by the fountain would be nice and public, ask our questions, then we'll go on our way and you can go about your day as normal?"

Her voice is atonal as always, but at a volume that cuts clearly through the muttering of the nearby crowd. She's just interested in asking a few polite questions, no one here is in trouble, but of course that might change if they're not willing to help her out with her inquiries. Of course if they do help with her inquiries that just means she'll be on her way and out of their hair, her and her extremely unnerving voice.

GamesMaster

"I'm not doing anything illegal," he says, scowling. "Anyone can speak here."

Solras, The Protector

"Doing something illegal? Whatever gave you the idea that I thought something illegal was happening? I just want to ask a few questions, then i'll be on my way and out of your hair."

She sounds..... curious? An officer curious about your assertion that you've done nothing illegal is.... worrying.

GamesMaster

"Then ask them here," he says, still frowning. "I encourage open debate."

Solras, The Protector

"If you like. I simply wanted to ask you why you didn't reserve a spot in the public speaking square over there. Last I checked that was only five coppers and guarantees you don't block traffic to nearby merchants. I assume you do not wish to block any merchant's access to their customers. correct?"

GamesMaster

He breaks into a smirk. "Because here, on this very spot, is where one of the hooligans of which we speak killed my sister not four years gone. She was a brave, noble member of your very organization, the City Guard, and she was struck down in her prime after cornering a thief."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch nods.

"I See... And you feel that her death in the line of duty, acting to protect the city and all who shelter within her walls, gives you the right to preach hate for others, to call for their expulsion, or worse?"

Okay, Now would be an excellent time for Wylde to haul her partner away before she really steps in it. That's if Wylde is paying enough attention to her partner to notice the sudden appearance of icy tones in the dwarf's normally atonal Common.

Wylde

Wylde steps up beside her partner, taller, more menacing. Her hands ball into fists, as she prepares for a fight -- laying a hand on her weapon would be provoking, she's been told off for that before, but waiting for him to throw a punch first is fair game.
