Cutting off your access to your friends, family or authority figures, sometimes by outright forbidding or even imprisoning you, but more commonly via indirect methods. Acting offensive or hostile to them, so they're less willing to spend time around you, being jealous of your time, springing plans on you last minute to force you to cancel, interrupting or intruding on time spent with others and many other ploys.~

~Which lowers the chances of meeting an abuser, true, but also greatly lowers your ability to get help or for the abuser to be detected before... any drastic issues arise.
