Silas just nods, looking solemn.

Varric

"What would make you comfortable enough to tell your dad?"

GamesMaster

He winces, looking down at his lap. "Dunno."

Varric

"It's okay to not know yet," Varric says quickly, trying to soothe the boy. "Would... having your Grandne there help? Or Your Aunt Marian?"

GamesMaster

Silas shakes his head. "Mari scary."

Varric

"She can be intense," Varric allows. "How about your moms? Either or both."

GamesMaster

Still he shakes his head.

Varric

"Having other people helps but not enough?" Varric asks to confirm, his smile still supportive and warm.

GamesMaster

"...I want Da to be proud of me. Like he's proud of Giri."

Varric

"He's proud of his sister." Varric points out. "And Merrill and Seli too. They're book-smart, if less math focused. Carver... Carver can be brash and-- Sorry. Carver can be socially clumsy? But he loves you, Silas. If you put work into something, if you try hard and give it your best, he'll be proud of it, no matter what it is." Unless it's devil related (or sex work, maybe) but I think I can let that go.

GamesMaster

Silas chews his lower lip, clearly not convinced as he nods.

Varric

"Tell you what; we can hold off for a while, maybe a couple of weeks. During that time, I'll give you some one-on-one lessons. That way, you'll be able to show your dad just how great you are at maths to be sure he's impressed. How does that sound?"

GamesMaster

Silas, expression grave, gives a slow, reluctant nod.

Varric

"How you feeling?"
