Go Down

Charon Tethras

Charon shoots Dil a smirk before slipping to his feet, heading after his brother. Meat! So much meat, real meat not just beans pressed into the shape of meat.

Diligence

"Hey, no fair," Dil protests as he's delayed by the need to clamber back down to the floor. Still, he's not all the far behind the others and there's far more food than triple their group could possibly eat. Hopping up on the ledge that runs the full length of each serving island, Dil takes a brief moment to gaze over the options.
All I really want from life is a cozy den, my real family, good food
and a couple dozen skeleton servants.

Andreas Amell

Andreas is far more blasé about the whole thing, simply dishing out small portions of about half the options. Definitely trying the glazed duck, get some hickory smoked ham slivers, braised beef, grilled steak, grilled chicken breast-- hmm, herb and lemon or BBQ rub? Herb and lemon-- some smoked sausages, and some veal stuffed mushrooms. "Oh, I'd recommend having the sandworm last, except for dessert if you're aiming for that. Otherwise it'll overshadow the rest of the meat dishes."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Charon Tethras

Charon shoots a glance towards the sandworm window and nods, his plate already overflowing with meat of all kinds. He wedges one more duck leg in there before heading back to their table.

Diligence

"Do they not have any grubs or beetles?" Dil asks hopefully as he peers around. He's got a fair load of other proteins on his plate already but...
All I really want from life is a cozy den, my real family, good food
and a couple dozen skeleton servants.

Charon Tethras

"No but try these mushrooms, you'll love them," says Charon, popping another into his mouth as he walks.

Andreas Amell

"Ah, that's over here," Andreas answers from the second island. "Sides are here, bread, salads and desserts on the third one there. Looks like they have a... an ant, blue meadow beetle and grasshopper, uh, salad I guess? Casserole? No idea. No grubs but there's some escargot."

"Es-what?" Dil grabs a few mushrooms before heading over to the second table.

"Err, snails in a butter sauce?"
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Charon Tethras

Dessert? Hmm... might be nice to have a bit of sweet later. After I consume this giant pile of meat. Charon slides into the booth, already popping another mushroom into his mouth.

Andreas Amell

"Good, aren't they?" Andreas asks with a grin as he sits down shortly after Charon. He gestures with a fork towards the last veal mushroom Charon is trying to divide up into pieces, as if hoping to trick reality into creating more of it by taking smaller and smaller bites. "They get their veal from Starry Night Farms. The cows are dire cows-- which is the weirdest dire animal I've ever seen-- and they feed the calves unicorn milk. I mean, the cuts this place can afford are probably like one part unicorn to ten parts cow milk, but still."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Charon Tethras

Charon swallows. "I haven't had meat since I got to Nyra. No, before, even. And this is... phenomenal. You can come here whenever you want?"

Andreas Amell

Andreas scratches at the back of his head. "Well, not when-- wait, you've never had meat before?"

"Fish and bugs," Dil answers as he slides his plates onto the table. Plural. He has one filled with cuts of meat, then the second filled with the bug mix and a small bowl of snails.
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Charon Tethras

"Of course I've had meat. Just, not in a long time. My last foster family didn't believe in wasting good beef on me, so they gave me mostly fish and beans, with occasional table scraps when they didn't go to the pigs."

Andreas Amell

"Well, fuck them with the Bitch's cock," Andreas says hotly, then flushes. "Err. Sorry, that was... umm."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?

Charon Tethras

Charon shrugs. "You get used to it, being an unwanted kid. I mean, I'm an adult now, of course, but--" he begins, then shuts up, wincing a little. "Or, at least, I told the guard I was on my way in."

Andreas Amell

Looking a bit relieved Charon hadn't taken offense, Andreas grins at his brother. "I'm not going to snitch," he assures him. He starts cutting his meat up, neat and tidy. "Given... given how things were for you, before, I can't blame you for not wanting to risk the orphan systems here. My cousins and aunts and uncles that've been through there all seem to have had decent, if not great, experiences with it but I know that not everyone does."
Oh cruel gods, why have you hidden my muse so?
